How could they pull a scholarship from a WR that is 6'4" and has 4.4 speed? Last time I check Ok State was not a private school, so academic standards can't be too high. What am I missing? Are they that stacked with talent? Considering their record this past season, I wouldn't guess so.
Panic in Stillwater. 7 JUCOs and possibly more!
I guess a JUCO is closer to being a MAN!!!

Getting a good feeling about this guy from my sources.
With offers from Oklahoma State, Purdue, Washington State, LaTech and Kansas, I sure hope my source is right. Big strong LB who can run - yes, please.

saw Victor Jones in high school and just didn't seem to make a lot plays, except on a straight blitz when he wasn't picked up. Doesn't seem to have real good closing speed. At 220 pounds as a high school senior, I think he projects as a 235 pound inside LB by the time he plays. But I tend to agree with this assessment from ESPN....looking at his video, just nothing that makes you say "wow".
Scouts Grade: 76
Position Rank: OLB #56
Considering: 1-Oklahoma State , 2-Kansas , 3-Purdue , 4-Washington State , 5-SMU

Evaluation: Jones does not dominate in one specific area at outside linebacker, but he is a solid all-around player. He possesses an athlete frame with a bit of bulk to help him support the run. Consistently keeps his shoulders square to the line of scrimmage and plays downhill. He is a solid tackler and physical at the point of attack. Moves well through the trash and flashes adequate-to-good short-area speed when attacking the open run seam. At his best attacking off the edge with a good initial burst and short-area closing speed. Times up the blitz well and shows adequate bend and lean. Sideline-to-sideline speed and overall range on run support are decent. However, we question his speed when chasing down Division 1 skill plays on the perimeter. His athleticism and fluidity at the high school ranks are only adequate, and he might struggle playing in space at the next level. A lot of his current productivity stems from straight blitzes off the edge. We have yet to see him consistently read and react through the lateral trash, and make plays. Tends to play high and a bit stiff when moving laterally-- making himself susceptible to cutoff blocks and often rounded in pursuit. As a pass defender, he lacks quickness when transitioning to his drop and struggles getting the required depth. We like his aggressiveness and timing as a blitzer, but he flashes difficulty making himself thin and hitting the small creases. Jones is a viable Division 1 prospect but did not make any plays on film that really wowed you-- his athleticism often mirrored a middle backer. He is a bit raw and flashes some good natural tools to mold. Could potentially utilize his vertical attacking ability and coverage experience as a 3-4 outside backer.

It seems that ESPN has him rated as one of the top 10 outside LB's in Texas. Not bad.

yeah, it's a good rating.....but if you read the report, there are just as many negatives as positives.....I'm surprised he's rated that high looking at his video.

Listed as an Other Safeties to Watch by Lemming in his pre-season magazine. Was list by pre-season Texas Football as one of their Top 20 linebackers in the state.

That's why we have defensive coaches.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.

Love this guy. 6-1 and I have him at 225. Smooth, fluid runner who hits with real aggression. Doesn't tackle guys, he blows them up. Powerful hitter and runner who is a very good pass rusher off the edge, using his power to bull-rush unsuspecting tackles and uses his hands well to gain separation while fighting off blockers. I've been told there's reason (family) to believe he might not be done growing, and he very likely can gain enough weight to play inside. This guy is one of those guys who looks good in tests, and plays even better. Very tough guy. Often runs right through first block on the way to the ball carrier.

I agree with you Guru.
I think either Jones or the Prosper kid would be our #1 recruit if we could get them.
