Grey Shirt

Postby mustangbill67 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:25 pm

As I understand it, a player who grey shirts enrolls in school the winter/spring semester at his own expense and takes less than 12 hours so not to become a full time student. He can practice with the team. In the fall he goes on full scholarship and has five years to complete his eligibility. Is this correct?

he doesn't have to enroll until January 2009-pretty expensive at SMU. He could take courses somewhere else if he wanted to that he knew would transfer though-but its not required.

That was the semester I was talking about. But I believe you have to take less than 12 hours so the five year clock does not begin.

You enroll NEXT year (Jan) and count against next year's allotment of 25 scholarships...you still have 5 to play 4...

It's good for physically less mature guys because their senior season they will be up to 2 years older...or when the aggies sign 30 and only have 24 to give this year...
