It's not TO Memphis. It's more like Pryor is visiting Memphis. And I think the offer to play both fball and bball is what made this happen. I will bet he does not end up at Memphis.

If he were to consider Memphis due to Tommy West and John Calapari, he could surely consider SMU for June Jones and Matt Doherty. I think it is more likely he wants some good ribs and to listen to some blues.

Their football has not been a beacon for a while and that is the sport where he would have to make his name I would imagine. If I am a QB and considering a school in CUSA, I would have to give SMU a look just because of Jones. If he is planing a BB career then I can see Memphis. I just do not see him going mid major. There are a lot of BCS schools that would agree to let him play both sports. Arkansas and Florida allow it on occasion and I am sure there are plenty of others. Of course the Memphis area also has some of those deep pocketed boosters that might have given him a call.

It would be the coup of the century to get him to SMU. As big, at least on paper, as getting June Jones.

Memphis is in the discussion because of Memphis basketball. If we had a top 5 bball program, then discussions of why not us would be warranted.

My bet is that Pryor after all this ends up at Ohio State

THis is something I have been wondering about lately, what do we really have to offer that a top 25 can't to a top athlete? If I'm a top recruit, what is going to make me want to come here?

Things we have to offer that at Top 25 program cant:
For starters, 1500 empty seats on a night when we play the #2 team in the country. Although lately I think Tech has had similar problems.

Seriously though, how can we expect recruiting to improve if we can't come up with anything substantial to offer top athletes over what they are going to get at a top program?
