LB Chase Ellis

One player with apparent great size and speed who has flown below the recruiting radar screen so far is LB Chase Ellis 6-3, 220 4.56 from Arlington Martin. The services may not be touting the guy(2 star) but the professional talent evaluators at Division 1 schools are. He has offers from BU, UH, Iowa St. SMU, TCU, Army and Navy and an offer as a preferred walkon to OU. He is visiting BU, UH, and Iowa St. (since he lives in Arlington there is nothing to indicate that he has rejected SMU or TCU-with few remaining weeks he could just be trying to visit the schools outside the Metroplex. I suppose he could take unofficial visits to SMU and TCU if he hasn't already)

I thought I've read that he really likes us! And I've seen him listed faster than the time you listed, too. He sounds like an ideal linebacker candidate.

If he's that big and fast, how has he slipped under the radar of so many other schools? Is he not that good?

I don't judge talent-but he's got at least 7 offers from Division 1 Schools including Big 12 Schools-that's good enough for me. Apparently, this guy ain't in love with the game of Football. He was quoted in August saying something to the effect that "he never watches football on TV so he didn't know much about the schools recruiting him-he said he just loves to hit. I found that odd. Anyway, if a kid doesn't go to camps, gets hurt or plays for a small school-its not uncommon for them to sometimes get overlooked. That's why any recruiting list compiled before a players SR year ain't worth the paper its printed on. As with the NFL the stock and recognition of top players is constantly modulating. Ask Willis McGhee. BTW 4.56 for a kid his size is awesome if accurate.

A lot of players aren't necessarily fans. Several years ago I had a discussion with one of the Cowboys and tried to explain to him the team's playoff chances. He was a very good player but really had no clue about the overall team or its standing regrading the playoff picture. That was back in the days when they had a playoff picture.

I agree. I have a brother who played college football and I can't remember him ever watching a game on TV - he just had fun playing it and that was enough for him.

If the guy has some potential, and is lying low in the radar, great. That is the kind of kid that has been showing up at boise st. and fresno st., and look at what they've done. Let's get the kid!

I've seen him. Do whatever it takes to create interest in the game, if that's important. He absolutely dominates games. He's very fast, has very good size and a vicious tackler.

Is there a better name for a linebacker who can really pursue a ballcarrier or a QB than "Chase"?
Seems perfect
