The MustangManiacs.com board is new but resembles more closely the older and more preferred board than doesn't require posters to register. I recommend using it!!!

Kurt Basically, I'm a badass.
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!The good news you bring just means the TCU fans will go back to mm.com and rebirth the garbage that was posted there before. Enjoy mm.com, but as for me, I am here to stay. Much better service and forum.
Go Red, Go Blue, Go Mustangs, S M U
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!Agreed. I've always liked this board better. I admit, there's some funny stuff over there - the trash talking with TCU fans, the fraternity rush updates, etc., but for real SMU athletics news and conversation, this is the only site.
I will continue to peek at the other, though. They do make you laugh over there. Proud to be a PonyFan
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!I agree that this site is much better. I'll post the info. I get from Lemming and SuperPrep here, if anyone is interested in it. I also get Emfinger, but have found over the years that he can be inconsistent. He does a better job of trying to rank by position, but I wonder if his evaluation isn't influenced more by outside sources rather than personal observation. I know he had financial problems several years ago and, reportedly, sold out to Blue Chips magazine. I'm not sure if Blue Chips renamed themselves Max Emfinger because of his name recognition. I haven't seen any ads for Blue Chips since the buyout.
Joe Terranova was the first service that I started using 25 years ago. I stopped using him because of the lack of information on the Texas schools, but his yearend rankings were interesting as were his descriptions of the final yearend classes. I'm not sure if he still does the rankings, but if he does, I will probably get it this year because of the strength of SMU and Missouri (my graduate school alma mater.) Missouri is having an unbelievable recruiting year and is going to start giving the rest of the Big 12 fits in the coming years for a change. Pinkel knows how to recruit just like Bennett. I give the edge to Bennett, however, given SMU's recent history. Ultimately, however, I do think SMU has the potential to rival the USC's and Miami's because of the fantastic campus right in the center of the nicest part of Dallas. Just recruiting the cream of the local area would put us in contention, annually, for a top 20 ranking. If there isn't enough interest here Bennett should establish ties in Chicago and St. Louis (my home town) where most of SMU's out of town students come from. Its darn cold up there in the winter months and there are some players in those towns that might consider a warm weather school attractive. By the way, I find it interesting that Pinkel is doing a great job of recruiting for Missouri, but so far only 1 of the top 10 recruits from St. Louis has elected to go to Missouri. The rest are going out of state! (Why not to SMU!)
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!I love your enthusiasm, but your lofty goals (comparing to USC, Miami) are years away. We'd need to start wailing on the rest of the WAC and then move into a better conference before we'd ever reach that stratosphere.
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!Miami wasn't great until the late 70's. There program was just average and then they finally got a coach that could recruit the area. What a difference it made! We have that coach now, and I don't think we have to worry about putting $100 bills on bulletin boards to get the recruits to show!
Re: New Format on MM Board!!!That's true, and Miami didn't play in the Big East at the time, either. Weren't they an independent in football? They got pummeled on a regular basis. Getting Florida kids to stay home got them on the right track, and look where they are now. If Coach Bennett can get the top kids in DFW (or Texas) to stay here -- and he certainly seems to be on the right track -- who knows how well we can do?
After talking to friends with SMU ties, excitement about this class is higher than I can remember at any time since 1989! Go Ponies!
