Steptoe to Decide Tommorrow

Postby Stallion » Sun Jan 19, 2003 11:48 pm

Rivals reports that Syndric Steptoe enjoyed his visit to Arkansas especially the facilities and now has some thinking to do and plans to decide tommorrow between SMU, Arizona and Arkansas.

Reading between the lines of the decision to announce tomorrow indicates he may end up at Arkansas. Having their visit fresh in his mind is a definite advantage for the Pig People. I hope I'm wrong and he ends up with us.

I'm not sure I agree with that because that was his last visit-if he wanted to he could have committed on his trip to Arkansas. He specifically said that SMU and Arizona were still under consideration. I feel better that two of our targets Armstrong(Rice) and Steptoe(Arkansas) made it home from their last visits today still in play. Also Kharylake Martin has not been reported as committing to Central Florida and he thought that would be his last trip although Tech and A&M are reportedly still pursueing Martin and have offered. BTW Steptoe would be our first 3 star recruit under the Insiders rating which is more conservative than Rivals.

So he would be the highest-ranking player in our class? We need anyone with the athletic ability this guy is supposed to have.

By the way, Lemming rates Steptoe #74 in the Southwest (consisting of Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas).
5'9", 170 lbs, 4.4
"A three-time All-District performer at both WR and CB, Syndric is also one of teh most explosive punt returners in the state. He's a blazer who knows how to get himself open, a strong receiver who goes to the ball well and also shows plenty of moves and surprising strength."

He would be our top rated recruit in the Southwest if he commits. No one else has made the top 75 listed in the January issue. As I pointed out earlier, however, both Muse and McGee made Lemming's Midlands top 75.

According to Rivals (again, for whatever that's worth), were Steptoe to chose SMU, he'd be our 4th highest rated recruit after 1. Avery Cleveland, 2. Ricky Joe Meeks, and 3. Richuel Massey.
