Ronald SimmonsInsiders is rep[orting that Ronald Simmons will not be taking the SAT until the last week in January and has visited no D1 schools. Only trips have been to Navaro and Kilgore J.C.
Re: Ronald Simmonsyeah PX and I among others discussed that a few weeks ago on this board. He can't visit until he gets a test score. Do we wait for a kid with good grades-3.5?

Re: Ronald SimmonsI think we should wait. He sounds incredibly talented.
Maybe he could go DB, if he doesn't crack the RB rotation?
Re: Ronald Simmonsso what's the story on this guy? perhaps the highest rated kid to have not signed anywhere. Is the GPA misleading? Does he just not test well? One report was that he hadn't even tested...that suggests he had concerns. Where is La Tech and La-Lafayette? I thought they would be in on a guy who might be labeled an "academic risk"? Anyone know the real story?
Re: Ronald SimmonsI saw some reported interest in SMU several weeks ago but teams are probably waiting to see if he gets his test score. I think there are about 4 more weeks in this recruiting period-otherwise he would have to wait until August to get an offer or go JC, small college or sit out the year to get his test score. With his GPA he at least should be a partial qualifier-I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at a NTSU if he doesn't get his qualifying SAT score. NTSU has scored big-time with Brandon Kennedy and Jonas Buckles with this type of kid.

Re: Ronald SimmonsHe signed with Navarro J.C.
Re: Ronald SimmonsThanks 50's Pony. And James Johnson, the great RB from PA Memorial who all of the recruiting services and recruiting writers for the metropolitan newspapers in Texas were curious about, signed with Blinn.
Stallion is correct about his prior report from Rivals. Simmons did say that he hadn't taken the SAT or ACT and blamed his advisor from his high school for giving him bad information about when he had to test. Give me a break, Mr. Simmons! You're a [deleted]! If you really wanted to play college FB at a Division I-A University, you would have undertaken to figure out what you needed to do to qualify. Don't blame it on your academic advisors. Grow up, young man. Accept the responsibility to learn what you need to do in order to qualify if you really want to move up. It ain't going to be simply given to you on a silver platter. You're going to have to show some iniative and effort on your own part if you want to succeed in this world. Ergo, nobody wants you right now because you've demonstrated that you're a lazy kid with no motivation who expects everything to be given to you because you're "ranked as a top 100 football player." That ranking and a dime might get you from your front door to your neighbor's house. I don't want you at SMU (where I donate a lot of my hard-earned money). You can go "play" at Navarro Junior College for a while. We'll see what happens to you. There've been a lot of much better players than you who have have come and gone and flunked out of society because of laziness. Mr. Simmons is just another name to forget.
Re: Ronald Simmonsyou know when I first read his excuse I had the same reaction although perhaps not as strong-kids make mistakes but he shouldn't have blamed others for his lazziness. BTW that's one thing positive Rivals and others are doing to get the word out in their presaeson camps about what a recruit must do to receive a Division 1 scholarship. That Rivals camp at SMU was attended by several hundred recruits and thety are fully informed of the requirement. Somehow I bet Simmons only has himself to blame.

Re: Ronald SimmonsDon't forget that we also had over 300 Texas high school coaches attend Coach Bennett's camps. They certainly know what their kids have to do to qualify. And, you can bet that Simmons' coach knows and knew what he had to do to qualify. And, I'll bet that Simmons' caoch and his academic advisors told him so. He just didn't listen - or didn't want to. Now, he can look back and blame them "for giving him bad information." Right, Mr. Simmons!
