If we have 5 ships left (20 commits), this is what I think SMU is going to take:
1) a running back. We have offered or recruited too many to stop now. And we need depth with Barnett being moved to corner.
2) a WR. Right now we have not brought in a gamebreaker, and we need one desperately. Galbreath is being recruited hard, but will will pick up one more WR.
3) OT. Our weakest position on the line, and it looks like we will pick up Martin, Tittle, or someone else.
4) DT. Second weakest position on the team. Looks like we are going after Naylor, maybe Derricks as a transfer.
5) CB/OLB. I think basically we will take Berryman or Steptoe, which ever one decides to come over. If both come over, I think we will sacrifice the running back slot.
WHAT WE WILL NOT TAKE THAT IS ON MY WISHLIST:
1) A TE/FB. The hope seems to be that Massey will be able to fill in as a Fullback while the HB stables are full with Kincade and Charles. The coaches seem to be thinking that Hrncir is going to be a good player, and that Ryan Kenedy is the player of the future, because we are not recruiting at all for FB or TE.
2) C. I thought looking into recruiting that we needed a Center pretty badly. But it looks like we have not recruited heavily here. With rumors of Benson moving to DT, the coaches must be thinking of moving Keishnick over to Center or that Eidson is going to really fill out and be a great player.

Yes, a fantastic looking fullback named Travis Cones. Anyone know his status? Adding him to this already terrific class would be icing on the cake. He's another big/strong/fast kid like Massey.

supposedly we can only take 3 -- 23 is our limit because we can't have more than 85 on scholarship -- i hear we want a olineman, a dlineman and a db(corner) - massey is a rb and not a fb - hopefully they will get a walkon fb maybe your JC

If we have three ships left then possibly they could go to Harris, Steptoe, and ? Assuming we can get them.

Johnny Rock: who's Harris?
I don't think the coaches have any interest in Tittle. He's slower than Martin, and when he gets in shape, he'll lose a lot of that size (although at 6'8", he'll still be big, of course.)
I say we latch on to Derricks, Steptoe and either Kharylake Martin or Jason Berryman. What a class!

I'm sorry. I meant Martin. The next few weeks should be interesting.

Hey JasonB, just wanted to let you know that the coaches feel pretty good about what we have. Those guys on you wish list will probably remain a wish. and oh yeah, Turner is being recruited as a center and guard.

Thanks for the feedback SMUCommitt. I feel really good about what we have now, and am really looking forward to the upcoming seasons when you and your classmates will strut your stuff! Have we pretty much filled out the class? I wouldn't be surprised to see us hold some 'ships over for next year, so we can capitalize on momentum after we have a better season .
