Darrell Arthur...starting to sound like...

...maybe we were lucky not to get him.

"NCAA officials have confirmed that if Arthur never officially graduated, his eligibility at Kansas is something that may have to be investigated. "
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Hey...from what I saw on the news tonight, it is very possible that it will be established that he was not elgible to graduate from high school and if that is the case, Kansas could be looking at some problems relative to their win/loss records. Whether or not getting him to SMU would have influenced recruiting one way or the other is purely speculation.

I'm not saying that the kid couldn't pass high school. Maybe he just didn't care. But on the other hand, had we gotten him, could he have stayed elgible. That is also going to be the question asked of Kansas.

So as I said, maybe we were lucky not to get him. Interesting development all the same.

Will they award Memphis the national championship?

Look, if they were using an ineligible player, I'm not sure ho wmuch wiggle room even the NCAA has. I think that's an automatic forfeiture of each game he played.

seems like a South Oak Cliff problem. as long as arthur passed his classes legitimately at Kansas, I doubt the ncaa would do a thing about what happened at SOC. SOC will probably be stripped of its titles though.

I disagree. When we had a player ineligible because someone else took his ACT, we lost the games that he played in. As I recall there was no concern about whether or not he passed his classes at SMU, his ineligibility was based solely on what happened at HS. We had to forfeit all of those games. If DA was ineligible because he didn't graduate, it shouldn't matter whether or not he passed his classes at KU, at least based on prior NCAA practice.

Doesn't the NCAA impose different standards on SMU as opposed to the other school?
