Ah, the good old Mt. Vernon Optic Herald. Interestingly, the other kid in the picture had been contacted by Bennett but wasn't high enough on our list to deserve a scholarship. He is a LB.

Comments like that are why some people hate SMU.

I noticed that someone wrote about me on the first page so I decided to go ahead and let ya'll know who I am. I'm Chris Hall (Zach Hall's younger but bigger brother)...

I'm 6'5 275 lbs. and I'm a sophmore. I started at Right Tackle this year and earned Sophmore of the year, I also placed 2nd for Sophmore of the district. I run a 5.2 40, and have the strongest Power Clean on my team. And I hope to join Zach at SMU in a couple of years.

LA_Mustang, if your post is directed at my comment then I'm not sure what you mean. I literally mean that the kid from MV had been contacted by Bennett but, with our outstanding group of LB committments at that point, he did not rank high enough to get a scholarship offer. This comes right from the kids mouth as told to my father. This is not a statement of disrespect. I actually know this kid and he is a heck of an athlete. He actually would have loved to have gotten an offer from SMU but knew that it wasn't going to happen. My dad actually advised him to jump on the UNT offer as soon as he got it. However, as good as this kid was as a 3A linebacker, I believe the ones we just signed are in a different category. My comments were not at all intended to reflect some SMU "snob" attitute. Rather, they merely reflect some recruiting facts - nothing more.

Mr. Hall, welcome to the Pony family! I'm hoping I'll get to see you and your brother dominate at SMU. That would make for a great story and it would be a lot of fun to watch. Good luck with your junior and senior season and we'll see you at Ford stadium next year.

YES...do come out to Ford Stadium and bring as many of your buddies as you can drag out there with you. I love the fact that we are signing more local guys. We really need to work on attracting more DFW fans to support this program. Love your enthusiasm '05!
