in total points SMU is No 53 and TCU is No. 63. In points per player TCU is No 63 at 2.43 and SMU is .01 back in 64th place at 2.44. There are about 5 schools whose reported classes are incomplete so I think SMU finishes about 60th in average per recruit. BTW in total points we now have the No. 3 non BCS class because Middle Tenn has so many morons they signed a class of 34 recruits while Louisville signed 26. BTW I think Jackie Sherrill signed 35 players and Oklahoma St 31. In average per recruit it appears SMU and TCU could fight it out for No. 1 and No.2 among non-BCS schools assuming that you don't include the following schools with incomplete classes La Tech(5), SJSU(1), NMSU(3), Akron(2), Troy St(2).

Yeah, looking at the Rivals rankings, I would say that we definately have a top 50 class, once you take both average and total points into consideration. Overall, I think our class is better than the Frog's (They have 1 4 star player, but we have 4 more three star players, and I will take depth anytime). The best non-BCS class is probably ours, with Louisville and TCU right behind us. Louisville has a higher point total because they signed more players. We have more "quality" recruits.
Top 45 or top 50 is not bad at all, when you consider that there are over 60 schools in the BCS conferences.

we are not in the Top 50 in any list I've seen. I would say Top 55-60 in Rivals. I don't think we would rate near as high in the Insiders-just a guess but maybe as low as 75-80.

How can those schools sign 30+ guys when the NCAA limit in a class is 25?

Wolcott is a 4 star on the Insiders where we are not really even competitive with even UH or Baylor. We are far behing Fresno JC, Louisiana Tech JC and Hawaii in the Insiders even with Wolcott.

Curious. How many Big 12 schools ranked lower on Rivals? Other BCS schools?

TCU, UH, Baylor and Rice all ranked below SMU on one Rivals list at least. I doubt if any Big 12 teams other than Baylor ranked below SMU-that's what I was saying a couple of months ago-the BCS schools will fill up with top prospects.( I checked and Baylor was the only Big 12 school finishing below SMU and they finished below us in both polls in Rivals.)

Let me explain myself as far as us being top 50.
Right now in Rivals, we are number 59 on total points. But if you look closely, you will see that Indiana, Middle Tenn. State, UCF, Temple, and San Diego State Do not have the same quality of recruits, they just have more recruits. We are about the same level as Wake Forest and louisville. So we are right around 50...

they are making some adjustments today and we have already dropped from 54 to 59 in a couple of hours in total score. Still 64th in average score-I can't see us getting higher than about 59 in either list so I guess we have a shot in the Top Fifties but not Top 50.

There are 63 BCS schools and we rank somewhere between 59 to 64.
We will be fortunate if we have 1 BCS victory next year.
