Great Stories From Bennett last night

Quick run down of stories he told last night about the kids that interested me-

Ricky Joe Meeks QB 6-3 215, Committed very early to SMU. But then SMU had terrible problems at qb so we had to keep shopping for more QB's. Bennett went to the Meek's house and he said the mom was very upset that we were still looking for QBs and kept talking to Bennett on the subject, Ricky grabbed coach took him
outside looked him in the eyes and said "Coach you go get the best Qb's you can get to make your team great, but i will still be your starting Qb. maybe not next
year, but i will win that spot."

Richuel Massey RB 5-11 210, After the Texas Tech Game, the recruiting coach called Bennett at 11 at night, he said "Bennett, i just left Massey, he said he wanted to go ahead and commit to us, he said 'I want to come to SMU and break Eric Dickersons records'"

Joe Sturdivant S 6-2 190, This kid went to Parkviewin Georgia. He started his Soph, Jr, and Sr. year. he played every snap on offense, defense, and Special teams, never missed a play each year. Sophmore year they were 15-0, Jr. yr 15-0, Sr. yr 15-0.

Corey Muse Lb/TE 6-3 205, he is from Oklahoma and Ok state wanted him pretty bad, said he was taking some abuse from the media about going to SMU. Bennett called him last thursday during the day to leave a message before leaving town for a Nike camp where he
was talking, to his suprise Corey answered his cell at school and Bennett was telling him how excited he was
about him coming to dallas and he is proud of how he has put up with the abuse, Corey interupts him and
says "coach, last night i was asleep and at 11:30 the phone rang and it was the head coach of OK state and he said 'guess where I am?' where i asked, and he said 'Your driveway and I need to talk to you', so i got out and went out there, and then my dad came out to
save me."

it is amazing, what goes on in the recruiting wars.
Side notes-
Jay'Mond went to San Antonio for the PS2
college football tourney. You get to make your own team, he made a SMU team with him on it- He won the whole tourney and was crowned the National PS2
football player. Coach said "See we already won one National Championship with this kid, hope he takes us with him!"
Some other interesting things said- at the TCU basketball game he was all over this recruit's dad that they were both fighting for, he had the dad next to him in the stands and was talking to him the entire time, he
said he saw a young TCU recruit coach waiting to try and jump in but was left with no chances, finally the TCU coach jumped in there and put the Cell phone up to the dads ear out of no where with the head coach on the other line. bennett said i am from the old school so i looked at him and said "If you don't get that
phone out of his ear and if you interrupt us again, i am going to kick your [deleted].".......he put the phone down.
When asked if he regrets saying that we could have won the WAC at the start of the season last year he said "Hell no. The minute I don't think we can win the WAC fire me. Because if i don't believe we can then the staff won't believe we can, and if we don't think we can then the kids will not think they can. We had a
disappointing season last year, and i put the entire blame on me and the coaching staff."

To the best of my ability that is pretty much what he said, i am sure i messed up some wording here and there, but for the most that is the jist of the stories that i enjoyed, hope you enjoyed it to if you couldn't make it tonight.
