For years the Star-Telegram has included a story/summary about S.M.U. recruits. This -- nothing but the list! Hmmmm! Wonder what they are thinking?

This year, the Startlegram stopped sending someone to every SMU game. They cover home football games (and of course SMU games at TCU), but I don't think they've even been to one basketball game. Budget issues, from what I hear. They now cover SMU only on a major story/easy commute basis.

Unfortunately, newspapers everywhere are suffering such budget issues.

I would quit taking the Dallas News if the Star Telegram would print SMU game reports and stories. Star Telegram is a much better newspaper and does a terrific job covering high school sports. Dallas News spotlights the Hicks-owned teams: Rangers, Stars, Longhorns. I usually just go to the sports page obituaries and jurisprudence section to find an SMU score.
