Colby Hollingsworth

Hey guys, anyone have any scoop on Colby Hollingsworth out of Highland Park? He had SMU listed on his choices, but I haven't heard where he's going to sign. I heard the Naval Academy.

Afraid so - I read he's headed to Navy. Seemed like he'd be a perfect walk-on candidate, if not scholarship.

Any word on other HP guys who might walk on? In addition to Berry and Wolcott coming to SMU, Foran is headed to Purdue, Kearney is headed to Yale (I believe), Gray is headed to San Jose State and Hollingsworth to Navy.

What about that Jason Wood? Other HP-ers?

Where did you read about him going to the Navy, just curious?

I'm not sure on any of the other boys. There was a DB that was considering college scholarships, but his name slips my mind. Looks like Bennett has tapped into HP, which could be a real winner for him. To bad he couldn't have gotten the big O-line guy who signed with USC.

Anyone have any clues on who the next group of players coming out of Highland Park are going to be? They say the QB for next year is a real stud and they've got another RB that is suppose to be great.

I believe their stud QB next year will be just a sophomore. But he is supposed to be good!

Well, Coach B needs to keep a watch on him and hopefully we can keep getting guys out of there. The pipeline has been started, let's keep it up.

Doubtful. The service academies never used to announce their signees. I imagine that is still the case.

So how will we ever know if Colby has signed or not? Because if he doesn't he's one that Coach B needs to go after to walk-on. He's got SMU connects through a sibling and his mother.

HPAlumni, you need to e-mail Coach Bennett and advise him of what you have said here and let the coach take it from there. If nothing else, Bennett or one of his assistants can call the kid and ask him if he has signed anywhere.

If you go over to www.smumustangs.com , you can contact the coach on the Football web page.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Just emailed Coach Ringo. I'll post what he replies, if he does?

one reason that the Service Academies don't announce their commitments is that I don't think they are final until the end of the school year. Remember they've got to get things like a recommendation from a US Senator to get in-so it is not left to the discretion of the coach. Also, they don't sign LOI and can have an unlimited recruiting class as far as numbers.
