Blue Chip Workshop heads to Dallas

February 10, 2003 -- A number of the top junior prospects in the Greater Houston area were on hand last Saturday at the Reliant Center, for the first of four free 'Blue Chip Recruiting Roundups,' directed by Texas Football recruiting analyst Randy Rodgers.

A crowd of more than 150 junior football players and parents spent the morning discussing the football recruiting calendar for this year's junior class and the new NCAA rules governing academic eligibility.

Offensive lineman Steve McKinney of the Houston Texans, a former Texas all stater from Clear Lake HS who played his college football at Texas A&M, was among the guest speakers. McKinney reflected on when he was a high school junior and shared many thoughts about his recruiting experience.

Also on the 'Blue Chip Recruiting Roundup' program was dietician Amy Bragg , who spoke about proper sports nutrition and the dangers of using various supplements.

The 'Blue Chip Recruiting Roundup' moves to Dallas on Saturday and will be held at SMU's Ford Stadium. Cleveland Browns placekicker Phil Dawson, who prepped at Dallas Lake Highlands and kicked for the University of Texas, will be this weekend's guest speaker.

Two more 'Blue Chip Recruiting Roundup' programs are planned in San Antonio on February 22 and in Lubbock on March 1.

Coach Rodgers, who produces the Blue Chips Section in Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, is one of the most respected evaluators for Texas high school football talent. Rodgers is directing these FREE workshops throughout Texas, designed to educate top prospects in Texas high school football for the Class of 2004.

To register for the 'Blue Chip Recruiting Roundup' workshop in your area, please contact Randy Rodgers at his office at (512) 327-1537, or Jana Collins, Program Director at (512) 563-8954.

Each player that attends the workshop is asked to bring videotape containing 10-15 highlights plays, plus their best single game. Players should be prepared to fill out a questionnaire that will include your career statistics.

Note: Parents are most welcome and encouraged to attend all sessions

Players must complete a registration form before attending this free workshop.

Great! as Bennett says if we can get them on our campus the school will sell itself. Don't underestimate the value of these camps as the NIKE camp last year introduced about 300 prospects and their families to the SMU campus. Just a factor but we ended up signing our best class in years.

Not so fast, my friend!

Um, Ponymon? The article said the guys are going to be at Ford Saturday, not Friday. Do you know what time? Is it open to the public?

Stallion, for the last time, stop being so damn positive. You are scaring the crap out of me. Talk about Charlie Waters or the lack of a kineseology major or something.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
