Attention Coaches!

Postby Higher Authority » Wed Feb 19, 2003 7:25 pm

There's a guy that I would think we're really missing the boat if we don't go after:

Cedric Peterson is a free safety/strong safety at Sunset High School in Dallas (District 10-5A — meaning he plays against the best).

Check out his raw numbers:
Height: 6'5
Weight: 195
40: 4.6

I don't know if he can play, but that's huge for a safety, and it looks like he can run. Offer him early!

While he seems like a very soliid prospect, I think patience may be a virtue in regard to this prospect.

I've never seen him play, but I have seen him on some preseason all-state lists. That might not mean he's a superstar (Tarrell Brown was listed around #100 in the state at this time last year, and he turned out to be one of the best players in the state, so we know how inexact those lists are), but it probably does mean he has some real talent and promise. I'm with H.A. - go get this guy.

I have seen him play, and he's a stud. He can run with anyone, and he's a vicious hitter. And as tall as he is, he also has really long arms — he can knock down a lot of passes that most safeties won't reach, and he is so lanky he easily could bulk up to play LB or even DE (not to make unfair comparisons, but Jevon Kearse was recruited to Florida as a safety). He's a sensational athlete who sometimes gets overlooked because he plays on a team that isn't that good.
