I'm not sure what makes any of you guys think he'll end up here at SMU. He's got two brothers at Texas and he is considering some big name programs. He ends up in the burnt orange.

Kurt Basically, I'm a badass.
Re: The Thornton KidHe's an unbelievable athlete, but you're right - he'll be hard to keep away from Texas. Coaches are all over him already, many of the top programs in the country. He's going to have a lot of options. But SMU is among the schools that's going after him hard.
Re: The Thornton KidI wouldn't hink we'd have much of a shot at him, but who knows.
Besides as great as Thornton is, wouldn't we rather spend the scholarship on the younger Massey? Is Massey Jr. going to be a junior this year or a senior? "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: The Thornton KidDonald Massey will be a senior in 2003-04.
Hard to say who should be a higher priority at this point -- they both appear set for monster senior seasons if their junior years were any indication. Thornton is bigger, Massey is faster. Leave it up to the SMU track coach, and he'll pull for Massey. If there's any way SMU could land both, the offensive assistant coaches will be throwing a party somewhere.
Re: The Thornton KidHere's a frightening comparison: I heard Thornton compared to Roy Williams (the UT receiver, not the Dallas safety or the Kansas recruiter ... er, "coach".)
And Thornton is supposed to be slightly taller and a better leaper. Hands aren't quite as huge, but maybe he's not through growing? [This message has been edited by Otto (edited 02-25-2003).] I really shouldn't drink and type.
