the only bad part about that survey is that you can't compare across conference lines.

well if SJSU's 40+ JCs in recent years doesn't qualify a school as easy to get into-what does? Hawaii has over 20 JCs. Seriouly, so-so just means they don't dip heavily into the Non-qualifier and partial qualifier list generally because of a conference rule.

Coach Cavan always talked about how we frequently recruited against Rice because we had similar admissions standards. I thought he was exaggerating to make up for the lack of Bennett-esque recruits. Perhaps I was being unfair to Coach C.

Interesting, but hardly quantitative, or objective. Its an opinion survey, how much does it actually mean? Whats the actual difference between Easy and Hard? Are all the "so-so" schools alike?

I'd bet the "coaches, recruiting coordinators and academic coordinators" who filled in that survey know a lot more than any of us do, so I take some level of pride in being on the list with the Rice-es of the world.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Remember the hard/easy question is relative to the respective conferences and not necessariy comparative between conferences. However Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Stanford, Notre Dame, Duke, Rice, Navy, Air Force, Army, etc. are similar and probably in a category of their own. HARD Plus. SMU is a notch below Rice and more than that compared to most of these schools.
