I just hope that the smell of money from the feedlot is blowing over the school when he visits! When I was there many years ago, the wind was blowing in the wrong direction and it really put hair on my chest. That place can stink as much as your worst nightmare!
I saw something on the Hawkeyes forum that said Russell, his parents and coach are all going to KState this weekend & will be there for http://blogs.cjonline.com/index.php?entry=8108midnight madness. Nothing offical though.
So we are not even on his 'in no particular order' list...hopefully that is way off.
Dallas is by far the best city in the group and Nick could get significant playing time from the get go. Come on Nick, be a part of something GREAT.
I was really hoping we'd land either dotson or russell and finally bring in a high profile player to expedite this turnaround. Yes, it's fun to "play with the big boys" on the recruiting scene, but we've got to rebound here and piece together a class that keeps doh's recruiting momentum alive.
So far the names I've heard are Will Cherry and Tim Frazier, a couple athletic point guards, but I think our focus has to be someone who can fill it up from outside. I'd love to get a great all around scorer to fix our lack of production at the 2, but building this team is probably more realistic by finding complementary pieces. Continue to build depth behind Dia, Faye, TK and find a legitimate three point shooter to stretch the defenses for our bigs and guys like McCoy and Malone that can drive to the rim. We've had zero outside threat the last couple years and it's evident when teams are giving us so many wide open looks. Even in this class, the guys Doh is recruiting continue to fit the description of athletic, rangy players with average or raw shooting/handling skills. Do we have a chance at any legitimate shooters in this class?
Like I said...pretty impressive whiff on that call by some of you.
