Black is still visiting SMU this weekend, but says he is still committed to OSU.

What an honor, think of all the great athletes that the committee has met on over the years.

Yet rarely do we actually have one before us in person. The thrill of actually looking into the eyes of a 3 or 4 star athlete, or maybe, shall we dream, even a 5 star, and telling him that we did not want him anyway, is beyond description.

The We Did Not Want Him Anyway committeee is designed to assure SMU that we only get the athletes that we truly want and more importantly it assures that we will never miss out on an athlete that we desire. If our committee acts swiftly and appropriately, SMU will never be "left at the altar" by recruits that many schools, alumni and fans thought that we were hoping to sign.
We have had difficulty in the past with recruits such as Mr. Ganaway, who many thought we actually did want by accepting his committment, but the committee in prompt fashion and in a late night session decided that perhaps Mr. Ganaway would be better off with a number of other schools of which we suggested he try out on trial basis prior to making his final decision. To date, the committee is still not certain as to whether or not Mr. Ganaway has made his final decision, however it is certain that we did not want him anyway.
In giving credit where credit is due, the WDNWHA committee concept originated at Texas A&M with the supposed committment of Eric Dickerson. Although Mr. Dickerson was awarded with a vehicle from TAM, their committee at that time, composed of local business men and farmers chose to not want Mr. Dickerson. The formal committee concept came into being when disputes arose concerning the vote on Mr. Dickerson when some of the voting membes said they would have raised their hands to "want him anyway" but they could not let go of their "private parts" to do so. They have since gone to a written ballot.

Phil Bennett took the WDWHA Concept to new heights by deciding We Didn't Want Any Top 100 Recruits Anyway and built his team entirely from players that other teams didn't want anyway. Is he an ex-offico member of the ad hoc committee of the WDWHA Committee? I will continue to update the list of WDWHA prospects for the Committee to consider.

He is no longer a member of our committee. Whereas he let the players not attending his camps know that we did not want them anyway prior to ever visiting the campus, we are going after a much better rated class of athletes to not want anyway, and do allow them to visit if they wish.

In honor of Sean Avery, we shall refer to these players as "sloppy seconds"...
