Not defending Scout, but why is this guy a 3 star over at rivals?

I think Benefield has run for about 5,000 yards in his career but at a low Division-Region 2A MVP so coming into the year he was highly acclaimed and has accomplished a lot-I also think he may have academic issues(confirmed by a report on Rivals that he was going to have to struggle to qualify.)

OK fair enough..I just kept seeing he was a three star with no offers. Also, not that it's everything, but Scout also has him running a 4.81 forty.

***As a side not, that is considerably faster than my forty time.

Hey I think recruiting services need to clean up the under ranked AND the over ranked recruits or the rankings mean nothing. Some complain about lists where recruits go up and down even after the season but not me. I think the ratings should be reflect as a major factor the players who are most highly recruited. I think Rivals does a much better job of correctly adjusting the ratings. BTW almost every SMU 3 star has been adjusted upwards by Rivals.

I agree completely. I used to think it was BS that guys got upgraded because they got this or that offer, but you made a great point a long time ago on this board. The base line scouting may be done by these recruiting services, but let the coaches evaluate talent and let the rivals and scouts of the world follow suit.

There are always anomalies...I guess it's just more fun to point them out...under or over ranked.

Now what about Max Emfinger...that guy know's his stuff
