Arrius Holleman

Postby smu95 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 9:07 am

Lubbock Avalanche Journal - Saturday October 16

In a series where the winner is often determined by who makes the biggest or last play, Arrius Holleman did both.

Monterey’s big-play receiver split a double team on a slant and racing untouched 66 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 51 seconds left, and the Plainsmen overcame three second-half turnovers and blocked a last-second field goal attempt to preserve a 28-27 victory against Coronado on Friday at Lowrey Field.

Having already hauled in a 46-yard touchdown catch after spotting Coronado the 14-0 first-quarter lead, Holleman caught the inside slant, got between the double team and raced down the sidelines for the game-winning score. The two touchdowns were his only two catches of the game.

“We were just trying to get the ball in the playmakers hands and that’s what I did,” Holleman said. “That’s all I got to say. We were trying to get it into the playmakers hands and I made a play.”

We hope he keeps his interest here at SMU...we need big kids like that and obviously his playmaking abilities!

Big play receiver-I hope he has some real speed and agility with his size. We haven't had one of those guys in awhile. I haven't seen any video of him yet
