Recruits with a hard nosed attitude

Postby mrydel » Sun Sep 05, 2004 6:34 pm

Hopefully any recruits we had at the game, and those there on behalf of Tech witnessed the pride and honor with which the SMU coach and team "presented their thoughts' to Mr. Leach et al. Losing can have a negative effect on recruits, but I truely believe that our improved performance coupled with our newly found swagger will help bring some attention from the prospective signees.

Yeah, I want recruits who have backbone, as well as size and speed. Hopefully the guys who were at the game Saturday (and there looked like there were a lot of recruits there) recognized the growth between last year's team and this year's version, and want to get on board on the way up.

In addition to David Allison, it sounds like Enright and Alexander are tough-nosed guys, too. These guys seem to be a VERY strong foundation for a strong class.

Keep it up, Coaches!

Hard Nosed - Yep that is what our coach showed by example. Bennett works hard and wants his team to work hard. When you have a coach that will ( yes ) make a scene and speak up, you attract recruits that will see the passion and play with attitude.

Go Coach Bennett. I do not have ANY problem with what happened after the game. Bennett threw no punches nor came on the radio with foul language. He stood up for his hard working and much improved team.

I want guys that have the same passion, feeling, attitude, desire, grit, swagger and agression; along with the size, speed and brains to be successful.

What Bennett did was impressive. As a recruit, you gotta give serious consideration to playing for a guy so passionate about what he's doing at SMU.

Go get 'em, Coach B!

I think what happened will galvanize the team. He saw how his team laid it all out there, and he didn't want them to think they were in this alone. He showed them that he's in it with them all the way. What he did bordered on heroic, complaints from our TT counterparts notwithstanding. It would be so easy for a coach to say "we went 0-12 last year, so let's take this garbage from Leach and go home with our tails between our legs." Not Coach Bennett - he's a .... "fighter" - for lack of a better term. He has more than a job here, he has an emotional investment in these players, and I think he showed that he cares about them and he believes in them.

If I'm being recruited, he is a man I want to play for in a heartbeat.

Coach, you have legions of fans who believe in you even more than before, and that number is growing by the day.

(By the way, I heard Coach Bennett will be on Chuck Cooperstein's college football show Wednesday night. Not sure of the time. It's on ESPN 103.3 FM. Show's at 6, I think, but I don't know when Coach Bennett will be on.)
