Working Hypothesis?

Postby Stallion » Wed Dec 01, 2004 10:38 pm

so what's it going to be this time (a) we've hired our 6th straight moron? (b) if we could only get a coach who can motivate the boys or (c) wait till next year? This is an average team with mediocre talent-always has been except perhaps when Dement had us on the lip of the NCAAs. We have some decent players who could contribute to a tourney type team-only most of them would be coming off the bench for such a team. When Tubbs can recruit talented kids highly recruited by the other top teams in Texas we might have a shot at competing with them.

We played a team with more talent tonight.
We were in a hostile environment.
We played very poorly.
Tech played very well.
We played a team with a coach who was angered or embarrassed (or both) when his team lost at SMU last year.
The guy most view as our best player is in a horrific slump.

So to answer your questions:
(a) Our coach is not a moron - anything but.
(b) He can motivate the team. The guys are still learning his system, and he's learning to be a head coach. The performances will be better. Much better.
(c) Next year will be better. But I'm not ready to sign off on this year yet. We laid an egg tonight - there's no way to sugarcoat it.

And yes, Stallion, you're right - as Coach Tubbs recruits more talent, we will be more and more competitive.

I'll be there Saturday to see the Ponies bounce back with a big win over Texas State. Hope all the true PonyFans will be there with me, screaming their lungs out.

Go MUSTANGS!

Stallion, just wait until we get our 7 foot project in here. Reserve a spot in the final 4.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

BTW Oak Hill has a website that lists the leading scorers in each game. Oak Hill is 2-0 but I couldn't find out anything about Bamba Fall because he was not among the listed Top 6 scorers in one game and the Top 4 scorers in another game. I'm thinking he's a 3 year project most likely including a rare redshirt-we might get 2 years out of him. Hope he's worth the wait-but hey you guys got to be realistic with him. I also saw a Rivals story on a preseason scrimmage which described his play as something like "unremarkable". He's a project-give him time before you starting firing coaches again.
