He claims an offer from SMU(his only offer) which he has now for months and said he may visit SMU. His only other visit is scheduled for Central Michigan on 1/14. Something seems fishy though about why he hasn't committed or at least does not and has not shown more enthusiasm for SMU over the last few months when his options seem limited. I noted a great GPA of 3.9 but poor ACT of 17. But then he had a very acceptable 970 SAT which should fully qualify him.

Central Michigan?
Bail me out here, guys.
Besides Gary Hogeboom, who comes out of C. MI.????????

I can't understand why more WAC/CUSA schools aren't looking at him unless there are questions. Great athleticism, acceptable height for WAC/CUSA schools, top performer and apparently fully qualified. Hmmm.

Could it be a character issue?

Possible character issues keeping away 1-A football schools - you are joking, right?

I'm not jumpin to that conclusion with a kid who has a reported 3.9 GPA. It could be SMU is either out of LB prospects or he is not number 1 on the list. Remember another LB KJ Ellis was told SMU didn't have a scholarship for him. I guess the kid is a little small-but he's bigger than Wilton McCray-and pretty strong for a little guy since he tested 3rd among all LBs at the Nike Campin tyhe Bench-tied with Donald Horton for example a much bigger kid. He could be 5-11 instead of 6-1 although I thought he was measured at the Nike camp at 6-1.

Stallion, you stated earlier that SMU had already offered this kid a scholarship...perhaps it is for a position he doesn't want to play and is holding out hoping for someone to offer at the position he wants. Just a thought.

Same hometown as the new GA mentioned on the football board.
Interesting.
Anyone know anything about him?

well we've gotten at least 1 LB commit since then and he has claimed the offer has been open for several months now They don't stay open forever.

hilltopper, you had to do some heavy duty skimming of that article to come up with the new GA coming from Mt. Vernon, Texas. Monroe is a DB/WR that was MVP of Dist. 11AAA this past season. He has state track meet speed and enjoys contact.

Is Monroe at the same HS that's coached by Ricky Joe Meeks's dad?
Would that affect his recruitment?
Hope not.

yes, dickey meeks is monroe's coach. that would not in any way affect monroe adversely. his son left smu on the best of terms.
