I don't think anyone says that the recruit rankings don't matter, they are indicitive. However, I think it is much more telling for the national powers and top 10-20 classes. The 5 stars are generally can't miss guys that anyone can look at and say "this kid is a stud, 5 star" and you don't need to be a trained evaluator...the 4 stars are the same to a certain extent.

When we are dealing with everyone else (I will exclude those high 3 star's that are fringe guys), a vast majority of the 2 and low-mid 3 star guys are in similar talent category...some will pan out and others won't...which is when I rely on a proven talent evaluators eye (our coaches) as opposed to a recruiting service.

I didn't get a chance to read the entire article, so If I stated something that contradicts anything in the article, my apologies.

So you don't find the difference between 38% (3 Stars) and 5.6% (2 stars) to be significant?

I am sure it is significant, I just feel that it is much harder to evlauate/rate/differentiate the middle of the road talent.

I realize that the recruiting sites do show that having "high rated recruits" makes a difference, BUT not always. Yes, I know it is only ONE example, but David Stanley was a major recruit, anc look how that worked out.
