Dude, no one gives a [deleted] about Southern Cal.
I'll tell you exactly how this season will play out- they'll go 11-2 or 12-1 regular season, lose to some crap team they should have beat, like Cal or ND, and then [deleted] and moan about not being in the BCS Championship game. Then they'll whip some worthless Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl and for 72 hours the national media will fellate Barkley and you would have thought they'd just gone 14-0 without giving up a point all season long. But then we'll all forget about them because the National Championship game will be played and they won't be in it.
Ok. It is late. Just back off work and read this. Wow. really?? East Coast, lay off. HBPD is a great guy, and has become a fan of SMU. Like the rest of us, I think, he wants to see SMU succeed. As for Southern California, I care. So do a lot of folk. (I grew up in the LA area.) USC is a good sized private school, with a pretty large alumni base. Add the fact that they pretty much dominate CA, and PRESTO... lots of interest, or [deleted], as you put it.
Right now, all of us as fans of SMU really need to get together. I believe that we all want SMU to become the school and program we think of. I am so tired of folks thinking of the crap about SMU. While I lived through it, I am done with it. I hope for, and expect better from those who can make those decisions for SMU. That is what I can do. I can support those kids coming to our school. And when they prove they were worthwhile, I can be proud that SMU has experienced some pretty fine folk as their athletes.
I am sure I will take a lumping from some, but oh well. Eating our own sure doesn't seem like a good way to move forward. Right now is a transitional time in college sports and I think SMU will need to do a lot to stay relative in athletics. SMU needs to reinvigorate the alumni base in the greater Dallas area. Then, help us in areas with a good concentration of alumni to promote the school. For too long we have been considered a losing program. NO MORE. Example: Oh , Sterling, how was Indy? what is it like to be a rookie in the Super Bowl?? Emmanuel Sanders, what is it like to carry on the tradition of #88 for the Steelers?
Anyway, back to CAN WE ALL JUST WORK TO HELP SMU? There are enough reasons to hate ut, or a$m, or tcu. Hate them and work FOR SMU.
Go Ponies!
