Also, I would point out Hawaii going to the Sugar Bowl, TCU pre-Rose Bowl and probably a few others if I took the time to investigate. My point is it can be done with the right coaches and players that fit the system. Like Jones or not, he has accomplished a minor miracle compared to the prior 22 years before his arrival.

Minor miracle or not June isn't the right coach and doesn't have the right system to do at SMU what Boise State has been doing. After all Boise State used to dominate June's old Hawaii teams.

In Texas, California and the South there are literally hundreds of camps, satelite camps, clinics etc.-were comparative analysis can be made. But I doubt a Mountain area recruiting sevice can realistically comparatively analyze players to other regions as well. All they got is video which shows just the highlites

Stallion, I know what you are trying to say here, but honestly, I know people who have been offered recruiting analyst jobs at rivals, and that is exactly what they do, regardless of the player's location. They look at a 1.5 minute clip of a player and give him an initial star ranking, then bump him up or down based on the offers they get.

There are certain camps that are attended, and details are added and at that point there might be some adjustments in the rating. So for those players it is maybe a little bit more accurate.

You have to keep in mind that these are NOT professional scouts, and, for example, none of the folks that write for the pony pride site played football and they all are fans of colleges that are not SMU.

But just about all the guys at Pony Stampede played and they are all SMU people. That is a good site IMO. But I know you just like taking pot shots at the recruiting sites. Also, the site publishers do not have control over the ratings of the players. If they did all of the players would be 4 stars to gain business. But you can't deny what your own said about our recruiting. While we can probably win 6 or 7 games next year we need to get better in order to win the BE.

Now you are bringing logical reasoning into the picture. Watch it because the hard core JJ supporters will be attacking you in just a moment.

I only know how Rivals works with scouting. I have no idea about how Scout or ESPN work, so I don't make any comments there, other than the write ups ESPN has about some the players are pretty detailed.

From what I am aware of, site publishers at rivals absolutely have the ability to request that evaluations of some players be bumped.

Anyway, that is why I look at all of the ratings services and then focus on offers. Really gives you a decent idea, and I also don't argue that this class is not as highly regarded as the last 3.

I really like Minor and Gaines in this freshmen class. I hope that will be enough until they can get more help.
