looks like a guy with some talent (just not enough to warrant a scholarship) who obviously wants a chance to play college football. It's good to find guys like this who can afford to come to SMU and hopefully help the program in some capacity

I realize the SEC is not comparable to our situation, but Arkansas has 6 QBs on their roster (including 2 coming in the fall) and they have no problem with threats to leave. They all want to complete. Does not mean one or 2 might want to leave after the winner is chosen, but competition never hurt anyone.

When I was at SMU we had about 6 on the roster and Chuck Hixson pretty well established as a sophomore. Ours stayed and still contributed and competed.

When Tom Osborne had things really rolling at Nebraska, he regularly gave credit to the scout team, saying he had the best scout team in the country and bragging about the quality of walk-ons he got, some of whom ended up earning scholarships and being major contributors for the Cornhuskers. This is a good thing.
