UT lands most heralded bball recruit everOak Hill's Kevin Durant committed to UT today. Durant is the #2 rated player in the country and many consider him to be the best. He's a 6'9" 200lbs SF with a world of potential. Many thought UNC had him wrapped up, but Rick Barnes pulled off a recruiting coup. UT has become a national basketball force.
LA, I call jinx, what are the chances we both post that at the same time? I said the same thing under the Darrell Arthur thread. I think the implication to SMU might be that it could tell Slim Shady that he is not UTs priority recruit. If I was Tubbs and other recruiters, thats sure how I'd spin it.
Great basketball minds think alike....this is actually my first time to visit the board in over a week.
You're right about Arthur. Unfortunately, he now becomes UNC top priority. We are battling the biggest of the big boys for his services. I’m just glad we're in it. He still lists five schools as having high interest in: UNC, UT, SMU, OU and Kansas. We can dream.
you're probably right about UNC shifting focus to Arthur, but I'd spin that as he was dissed by UNC too as their second choice to Durant. Not sure I believe that, but its a clean recruiting pitch. By the way, I've heard that we are very legit with Arthur. I keep waiting for us to fall off his list, but apparently he is giving SMU serious consideration.
Very small. He has to play somewhere, because he won't be 19 when he graduates. In fact he is young for his class and will have to play 2 years somewhere. So, considering he committed to UT, I think there's very high chance he'll play there. But keep on hoping..... "Remember Danny - Two wrongs don't make a right but three rights make a left."
ESPN radio reported today that he's going to try to work out a deal with the Jazz. He's got a ton of talent, but he's going from playing in the low post for Skyline to playing shooting guard in the NBA. He's worked [deleted] his jumper, I gather, but that's a huge transition.
