I simply said Sloan is better that Beal. I don't think that is "way overrating" him.
SMU would be very, very fortunate to get him. One service that typically proves to be very good at rating players has him as the 2006 second best point guard in Texas and the 5th best player in the state. Give me a bunch of players like that and watch SMU's basketball fortunes take off.

Yes, we'd like either of them, but which one is already IN THE BAG????

Sadly, neither. I hope I am wrong but I don't think so.

no one is in the bag ever at least until a verbal is made. I dont think even Stampede said anyone was in the bag. That was a poorly worded hypothetical by Go Red Go Blue if I'm not mistaken. Things are looking pretty cloudy at the moment, I have no idea who we end up with. Maybe we'd be happier if we were like TCU, they took a verbal from the #59 ranked player in Texas this week. I doubt that would make us happy.

That sounds a little more unequivocal than hypothetical to me.

well, we both like to argue, but in the context it was written in I interpret it as totally hypothetical. I'm a big believer in "mean what you say (write), say what you mean", but its still a post on a message board, not a legal opinion.

BTW I agree that I've not seen anything definite yet. Rivals has not reported this yet. As best as I can tell this was a rumor posted on the Baylor board based on a rumor on the Kansas board.

no, but I'm pessimistic at this point. Word on the street (in this case the internet sites visited by local high school and AAU junkies, is that neither Baylor or SMU is in the mix now. Arthur is going for the one of the glamour programs, I bet KU.

Well I can't argue with that. I'd add that it's especially important not to make statements like that if they are untrue and form the support for your argument that we are not recruiting a talented kid from our backyard. It makes you look kind of stupid on two fronts if it doesn't pan out that way.

DMN has an article that lists Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, UNC, and SMU.
SOC basketball star narrows college list
11:42 PM CDT on Saturday, August 13, 2005
By KATE HAIROPOULOS / The Dallas Morning News
South Oak Cliff 6-9 forward and top-10 national recruit Darrell Arthur said he has narrowed the list of colleges he's considering to Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina and SMU. Arthur said he will wait to sign a letter of intent until the spring NCAA signing period, bypassing the early signing period in November.
Notice the lack of UT and the presence of SMU. So at least someone thinks you're still in the running.
However, no one that I know of has been able to contact Jazzy so this is also to be taken with a grain of salt.
btw, here's the link: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 388c1.html
#25 athletic program in the nation ain't bad...
