Darrell Arthur National No. 4 Player

still listing SMU among his favirites as of today along with UNC, Tex, Kansas and OU according to his coach who emphasized the importance of family relationships which may keep Arthur close to home. Move over Julius "Big Cat" Henderson because Darrell Arthur would be the "Big Dog" in town.

Are you are drugs? do you suffer from Dyslexia? (because I understand NTSU has a fine program)....maybe that explains how you got the nicknane KP while playing basketball rather than PK.

The day Coach Tubbs was hired I believe Darrell Arthur was his #1 recruiting target. He’s Q’s cousin and probably the best junior PF in the country.....a program changer. If any of you people want to see how good he really is go to a SOC game and report what you see. After high school, he'll be two years away from a huge paycheck in the NBA.

I don't know who or when, but Tubbs will get at least one or two massive superstars to SMU during his tenure. Its just a guess, but you can throw it in my face if it doesnt happen. By that I mean Top 10-20 national type players.

A good enough player doesn't need Kansas or UNC or national tv to get noticed by the scouts. He really doesn't need pristine facilities either, other than 10 foot rims and a court that goes 92 feet. Temple and others have gotten players for years without being a BCS type school.

Darrell Arthur might be the one, he may not. But chances are that being Qs cousin, he probably has a good head on his shoulders.

I know it's impossible to pull off, but Tubbs' GOAL every year should be to bring one or more of the best players in DFW to the Hilltop. If he truly has the local HS coaches' support and he can do anything close to that, he'll have a lot more than one or two superstars.

I guess it just depends on what the definition of superstar is. Mine was a top 15-20 national player when I was referring to one special player. Guys like Chris Bosh, LaMarcus Aldridge and Darrell Arthur.

Right, and all of those guys are locals, and there have been a lot of national top players (forgetting rankings for a minute, 'cuz I don't know them) which have come out of DFW in recent years. Bracey Wright comes to mind immediately. If he focuses on bringing the top metroplex guys to SMU every year, I think the superstar thing will take care of itself, whether the guys are top 20 or top 100 nationally. Like I said, I know that's an impossible pace to maintain in recruiting, but it should be the goal every year to keep the top guys at home, and his support from local coaches should give him an in to make it at least feasible. But that said, we've got to sow something on the floor to make SMU more attractive, too. Those "special players" won't all want to come into a program with the pitch to help turn it around year after year.

I guess I'm about to go against the tide, but you don't want any one year folks who come in and then go pro. We want to build a consistent winner that gets ranked top 25 every year pre-season just because. I guess a Chris Bosch would be nice, if he was the last peg needed to go all the way in one year, but you don't want a guy who checks in and then checks out after a year when you are in a building mode. Bosch was a great addition to an already loaded team. Okafor was a the last peg needed by U Conn. Anthony was the last peg needed by Syracuse. Those programs were already loaded, we aren't. Now if adding a top 5 player starts an avalanche where we get 2 or three in one year, now we're talking.

I hear what you are saying, but there is one reason I don't agree. Even if it was one guy and only one year, there is tremendous recruiting value in having a Bosh type in the NBA who went to your school. Even if it didnt start an immediate avalanche, the recognition value would be there for several years. [/img]
