SMU Offers Southlake WR Evan Fentriss

Postby Stallion » Tue Jan 03, 2006 4:38 pm

SMU only offer so far but Baylor is looking. He's about 6-1, 185. I know he made some big catches this year-isn't he the guy that made several TD catches in the Championship? I'll supplement later. Also we are no longer pursueing that Chris Ivory kid. He looks doubtful for Divisiion 1A.

He transferred in (for his senior year, I think, or at least no later than his junior year). Allegedly came on late after getting used to the relatively complex SLC offense.

From what I saw, this kid can play. Rivals rates 5.2 and indicates that he runs a 4.4 forty!

Supposedly Todd Dodge thinks he has just scratched the surface of his ability, for what it's worth.

actually came from being a non-starter at the bekinning of the year to the second best receiver on the SLC team. Had a better season than the more heralded Clint Renfro in every category. Fentriss had 47 catches for 953 yards and 13 TDs (20.2 per catch) including SLC's final TD in the 5A Championship on a 33 yard TD catch,

He transferred from Lake Highlands. He is outstanding! He is like a tall Mick Rossley or Cardwell. Lets get him in.

Chris Ivory- Anyone who watched Lake Highlands and Longview would agree he was the best player on the field by far. He was better than Texas signee Vondrell McGee. I cannot imagine why we would stop recruiting unless he is a crackhead or thug.

Mustang 35SMU -Do you have any info on him??

He'll give you everything he has I'll tell ya that. He isn't as fast as Vondrell, but he has a lot more strength in him and he will plain push you over nto get the yards.

No body is recruiting Ivory which means either (a) he ain't a Division 1A prospect or (b) he has an academic problem which will make it impossible to qualify or hasn't even taken the SAT or ACT so no one can offer a visit.

All I know is he was the best player on the field against Lake Highlands. We intercepted Longview and he put the hardest hit on our DB I have ever seen in high school football. Maybe he can't read or something I don't know but he was awesome in person. I hope we can find out more info.

I can't believe you can start for Longview at Running back and not be a Div.1 prospect. That is like being the QB of Southlake Carroll and not being a D1 prospect.

Ok....

Just because we are the only ones who have offered him so far doesn't mean that he is not a Division 1 prospect, hence he also has 4.4 speed. SMU will take that any day.

Mick Rossley wasn't 6'1"?
Both of those guys were extremely productive, especially Rossley. I'll gladly take another like him, if the comparison is accurate.
