Amadeus WatersFrom Rivals:
It's been an odd feeling for Buda (Texas) Hays running back Amadeus Waters who figured after collecting all sorts of post-season honors, his recruiting process would shoot straight through the roof. Apparently, that has not happened as of now. The 5-foot-10, 209-pound runner had an exceptional year, but says a few verbal offers that have not gone to the next level have been all he's seen. "I haven't had any written offers yet," Waters said. "SMU, UTEP, and Texas State are the main ones though talking to me. None of them have offered, but Michigan State seemed close at one time." "Then they backed out because they had a transfer come on board." Out of the three schools, Waters says he's favoring SMU. "They've been the closest with me and really have kept in touch," he said. "They've always been there as far as the other schools and they call about every other week." Waters says he's not going to be picky and may jump on the first school to offer. "I don't know what the story is," he said. "I think it had something to do with my grades and at one time I was ineligible. I don't think a lot of colleges know that I have improved and will graduate fine." Rushed for 1600 yards and 33 touchdowns I saw his pic on rivals..,this guy is big: height: 5'10" weight: 209 lbs 40 time: 4.63 seconds (one article says 4.5 seconds) Bench Max: 350 lbs Bench reps: 27 Squatted: over 500 lbs Vertical Leap: 27 inches Shuttle Time: 4.19 seconds Rivals 2 Star 5.3 Sounds like a great fullback for Demyron. Let's bring him on board coaches.
Something wrong with these stats?
Earlier quote: Rushed for 1600 yards and 33 touchdowns height: 5'10" weight: 209 lbs 40 time: 4.63 seconds (one article says 4.5 seconds) Bench Max: 350 lbs Bench reps: 27 Squatted: over 500 lbs Vertical Leap: 27 inches Shuttle Time: 4.19 seconds I don't think you score 33 TD's with 1600 yds @ 4.63 (40) The 4.5 makes more sense. But the -0- offers: Sounds more like grade (issues) than skills.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- unfortunately the 4.63 is the verified time. Add that to the fact he is only 5-10 and that chases some teams off. At 5-10 you look for 4.4. . Buddha Posted: Wed Jan 04, 2006 9:27 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever seen this kid? I don't know if he can block, but he's built like a rock. ******** Yes, I have seen him play (a couple of times) & he is built like a Mack Truck. Also, I watched CB/DB watch the BIG numbers on the back of his jersey head into the endzone. That's not 4.63 in my book. Yeah, he may have run that at a Camp last summer-- up hill, against the wind, amateur trainer timer, whatever reason. If we have an extra scholarship ( and his grades/SAT merit) he may be a 'sleeper'. I'll take his real stats (33 TD) vs. timer stats anyday.
Hmmm, well Stallion, I hate to break it to you, but once again your overinflated opinion of yourself is showing us all who the uninformed one is.
Here's a snippet from NFL.com http://www.nfl.com/news/story/8480589 "Some of the game's biggest stars ran relatively slow 40-yard dashes before they were drafted. It is well documented that wide receiver Jerry Rice and running back Emmitt Smith had what, for their respective positions, were tortoise-like times (in the 4.6-, 4.7-second range). Yet they somehow managed to have enough speed to establish themselves as two of the greatest players in pro football history." The fact that Emmitt was relatively slow is a well-documented FACT. You probably didn't catch this little tidbit glued to your computer monitor, but anyone who actually watched Emmitt for any of the 12 years he played in Dallas saw him get caught from behind any number of times.
well if Vince Arruzzi says so then it must be true. You're the same guy who jumped all over me for claiming you were naive for claiming Tom Brady never ran faster than 5.25 Forty only to be shown verified times under 5 Flat. The same would prove to be true in this case. Smith ran considerably faster than 4.63.
Please, Emmitt barely broke that time when he was running wind-aided times in his shorts and t-shirt on a sunny spring day at Valley Ranch. He is the classic example of a guy who plays faster than he times with a stopwatch. He never ran away from the faster DBs, but he had absolutely unbelievable balance, vision, strength, power, karma .... everything else. He laughed about being the slowest running back in the league -- a stretch, obviously, but he knows he was never going to be confused with a sprinter-style back.
He's a photo negative of Alexander Wright and Ed Hervey, speed guys who knocked your doors off at a combine or Pro Day, only to reveal in Dallas that there's a hell of a lot more to playing football than running fast.
Back to the composer. I think we should wait this one out and IF we have an extra ship we offer. We do not have many and you all agree we need Big MEN.
Don't we have a ton of RB's on the team. And Good ones??? Wait.... could this guy play Linebacker???? Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Stallion,
You just don't know when to shut up, do you councilor? His name is Vic Carucci (not Vince Arruzzi) and he's the award-winning editor of NFL.com and has been coving pro football for over a quarter century. Emmitt ran a 4.7 at the NFL combine, which is why his stock fell and the Cowboys were able to pick him up at #17. So if you want to argue with NFL.com (who most would assume knows a bit more than you), I can send spend a few seconds and send you a couple of links to other pubs that reported the story. How about: Arizona Daily Star http://www.azstarnet.com/dailystar/rela ... /18889.php The Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/sports/football/p ... for_smith/
