Never really looked at Scout much but for what it is worth all but 1 of the players chosen in the first round came from BCS schools. Through the first 3 rounds 79 of 99 (approximately 80%) players chosen were from BCS schools. Thats a remarkably high percentage.

Granted I don't know what their individual rankings were but typically Rivals top 25 recruiting class lists are full of BCS programs with highly rated guys. I'd be interested to see if someone wanted to go to the trouble of finding a rivals ranking for every player in the first 3 rounds. Any volunteers???

So are you saying that you think Scout ranks players lower than Rivals does? Does that then mean that Rivals inflates rankings or that Scout under ranks players? :?

I am just presenting information that I found relevant to the post subject. I don't really ever look at Scout and would by no means consider myself anywhere close to a recuiting service expert, so wouldn't be qualified to discuss over or underrated players. Just thought it was a good tidbit to add to the discussion.

****EDIT**** Found some info on Rivals website. Rivals.com average star rating for the top 100 was 3.29 and average star rating for the first round was 3.63.

So if 32 of the top 100 players were a 3.63 rating that would mean that the remaining 68 players (all of round 2 and 3 plus the first player taken in round 4) would have to average 3.13 stars to arrive at the top 100 star weighted average of 3.29.

Just more food for thought in this discussion.....

Mathematics can be very deceptive in this case as I've pointed out several times because there were only about 25 Five Stars in the entire 2003 Rivals Database. ( I no longer subscribe to Scout because it was pathetic). Many have already previously gone pro such as Vince Young, Ernie Sims, and Bush. Others like Chris Leak don't translate to Pro Football.

In comparison there are something like over 2,500 players rated below a 3 star. So there are 100 times more players rated below 3 stars than 5 star players. Throws the mathematics way off.

The percentage of players making it to the NFL is infinitely greater at each successive level as previous posts have shown. 43 of the Top 100 NFL Draftees were either a 5 star or 4 stars which represents about the Top 15% of all high school players receiving college scholarships.

Unfortunarely it doesn't state the number of 3 stars who were in that Top 100 but Rivals states that 71 out of the Top 100 came from BCS conferences minus the Big East for some reason. Throw in the Big East and Notre Dame players and you get 78 from BCS schools so you can bet it not far off from 75-80% were at the very least Rivals 3 stars. Again doesn't include at least 3 and definitely more who turned pro early-Bush, Young Sims etc. Guess it just goes to show just how bad Scout is at projecting players. I'd suggest dropping Scout and Sanjaya and getting Rivals.

As a handler, or as the traditions committee's new look for Peruna? Sorry, this isn't Mustang Idol, and there is no way I am watching a cross between Michael Jackson and Satan from Southpark try out for anything else, with or without a bridle.

Here's one for you, Sanjaya! Image

Sanjaya was robbed. That show is fixed.

I may one day subscribe to Rivals but why when I have Stallion.

Actually, it would be kind of fun to watch him get dragged Peruna.

You mean dragged by Peruna or in-drag in lieu of Peruna? Neither is funny. Well, okay, both are funny, but neither would be something I'd want to see...well, I mean, I'd be okay seeing it, but I don't want to be around it...not that there is anything wrong with that...the in-drag thing, I mean.

Okay, I'm not posting on this subject any more.
