Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruitingFox Sports has a recruiting guy named Brandon Huffman who talks here about SMU's Adrian Klemm and the impact he is making on the recruiting trail in California.

Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruitinghe's right that some BCS programs are likely to try and hire Klemm away from SMU; sure hope Klemm is happy here and that the money is there to keep this staff together. Momentum seems to be building
Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruitingDoes anyone know how often Jones loses his assistants to other programs? My unfounded feeling is that he has a close-knit staff that doesn't get hired away (for lateral positions) very often despite being very attractive hires to other programs. Can anyone confirm this?
PONY UP!
Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruitingDon't have any hard info, but if you read and listen to interviews with the staff, most of them profess an almost fanatical devotion to the man. Klemm, specifically, is only coaching because JJ invited him to come to SMU. He was living in Scottsdale on his nest egg from his NFL career and noticed that everyone else his age had a job. JJ calls, asks him to come to Dallas and make a few hundred $$ a month as a GA, and he accepts. So it's not really about money for him. Though, he at least makes a respectable salary now.
Reinebold, Morrison, and others are similar...they wouldn't be coaching in college if JJ hadn't asked them to join him.
Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruiting
After the 1999 season he lost DC Greg McMackin to Texas Tech (lateral move) After the 2002 season he lost DC Kevin Lempa to Boston College (step back in title but got pay bump) After the 2004 season he lost OL coach Mike Cavanaugh to Oregon State (lateral move) After the 2006 season he lost DC Jerry Glanville to Portland State (promotion-HC) After the 2006 season he lost RB/ST coach Mouse Davis to Portland State (promotion-OC) They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruiting
It's not, those were his only defections in 9 seasons. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruitingAlso wasn't there a big issue with compensation for the assistants at Hawaii?
PONY UP!
Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruiting
It's Vantz, and he left Hawaii after the 2005 season for UT-Chattanooga (lateral move-DL coach). Good catch. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruiting
wasn't he set to join SMOO's staff until uncle Mike was hired by the 49ers. ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Fox Sports: Klemm impact in California recruiting
I don't think so, he was at Buffalo coaching DTs during June's 1st season in 2008, then last year he got hired by Uncle Mike to coach the 49ers ILBs. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security
