While I agree with you to an extent, I would hope that no matter where Terrance ultimately decides to attend college, there will be no hard feelings. Personally, I would love to see him attend SMU more than any other college that he has received offers from. But, Terrance has to do what Terrance believes is best for his future as a football player. There is a lot on his plate right now and I am sure he is sorting thru it the best he can. All I can say is good luck to Terrance and all schools involved.

District 15-2A Awards

Congrats to Terrance and all of our DeKalb Bears. Also, a big congrats to DeKalb for placing 12 kids on the Academic All-District Team!

DeKalb senior unanimous pick

District 15-2A coaches should be glad Terrance Ganaway won’t be around to terrorize their teams next year.

The coaches bid farewell to DeKalb’s outstanding running back/quarterback by unanimously naming him the Most Valuable Player on the 2006 all-district team. It was the second consecutive year the honor went to Ganaway.

Clarksville picked up two unanimous superlative awards. Senior running back Jonathan Larkin was named the offensive MVP and sophomore Tracy Morgan the defensive MVP. DeKalb’s staff share the Coach of the Year award, and freshmen Hudson Milford of Honey Grove and Holden Jenkins of Cooper are co-Newcomers of the Year.

District champion DeKalb had nine athletes named to the first team, two of them both ways. Senior Demontrae Coleman and junior Rodney Payne were unanimous choices on both offense and defense. Coleman was named at running back and in the defensive line and Payne in both lines.

Other offensive first-team selections for the Bears were lineman Michael Davis and running back Blake Hill (unanimous) and sophomore kicker Nick LaToof. Senior end Tyler Anderson, senior linebacker Jeren Brewer and junior defensive back Cody Powell were all unanimous selections on defense.

Clarksville, which finished second to the Bears in the league race, had four first-team selections, including senior Jeremy Stafford, who was selected at wide receiver on offense and at defensive back, where he was unanimous. Senior quarterback Shamond Richardson and linemen Isaac Cunningham, a senior, and Velaris Ricks, a junior, were offensive first teamers.

Seniors Cameron Maxam and Xavier Akins of Honey Grove, Cole Hignight of Prairiland and Michael Peru and Kodi Hoskins of Paris Chisum also made the first team on offense and defense.

Terrance is visiting Rice as we speak. He left this morning (Friday) and will be home on Sunday. Also found out that SMUis wanting Terrance as a safety, but they are wanting to redshirt him next year. It seems that is the big turn off toward SMU. Both Houston and Rice have indicated that Terrance would be competing for playing time at RB next year. The Rice head coach even told Buddy Ray, DeKalb's head coach, that he had watched miles and miles of video tape this year, and other than a 5A RB who I believe he said had already committed to A&M, that Terrance is the best RB he has seen on film as far as having all of the tools it takes to be successful. I know this may be a stretch, but I feel there is a great deal of truth to that statement. I really wish SMU would show the same type of excitement and interest in Terrance, because I am sure he would be there. But, the way things stand at this point, I don't see SMU in Terrance's future.

I guess the RB would be McAllen Memorial's Bradley Stephens, first mentioned on pf.com by yours truly a year and a half ago and now an aggie commit.

They probably could not show him a very good time. All that pesky bowl preparation probably got in the way.
