Ranked #94 Class on 12-02Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02Chad's success will make a great climax to June's movie

Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02Stallion, you need to separate my support of our staff (any staff) from the bull sh-t feed to us by the administration for the past 30 years--and, especially the past twenty.
Let's see, by my recollection since Ford has been built we have had two quality wins at home--the opening game against Kansas and Bennett's upset of TCU. The athletic highlight of the last 30 years was getting to the finals of the NIT what did that do? put us in the top 50? Now our fearless leaders feel it is justified to lift ticket prices and donation levels. My two tickets to football and basketball have increased by 300% for this coming year. My parking alone has increased to over $50.00 per game! Really makes you feel rewarded for loyalty to the program. I guess it was time to run over the fans and supporters again. I can't imagine anyone managing an athletic program worse than SMU has! I guess the thinking is if we can just get rid of those pesky fans no one will complain! By the way, as far a facilities are concerned, Chad has been promised the very same things by these bozo's, that June and his staff were promised six years ago. It is up to us, including you to support Chad, quit being a shill for the administration and this time make sure they actually occur or in six years we will have ground up another set of coaches. Just as a reminder, In the past 50 years not one HC of men's basketball or football has left SMU for a promotion--save for Myer running ahead of the NCAA. Look at Tulsa and Houston, at least they are seen as stepping stones for advancement, we are only seen as a graveyard. When you troll the internet tonight, you might research how many schools have that record for the last half century! It will take all of us to separate promises from action and maintain the pressure to properly support this new staff--this maybe our last chance at the brass ring. Oh and what happened to your choice for HFBC, you remember the Texas HS coach from Southlake that lasted almost three years at North Texas?

Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02People like to use TCU as a model, so I thought it would look at their team recruiting ranking per rivals vs SMU's ranking.
Year TCU SMU 2002 80 69 2003 69 62 2004 89 144 <- not a typo! I think they included some FCS schools 2005 54 82 [TCU: 2005 MWC Champ] 2006 60 110 2007 81 99 2008 97 91 2009 46 81 [TCU: 2008 MWC Champ, two loss season, SMU: 2008 First season of June] 2010 46 76 [TCU: 2009 one loss in BCS Fiesta Bowl] 2011 26 50 [TCU: 2010 13-0 win BCS Rose Bowl, SMU 4* DE never makes it to campus] 2012 37 90 2013 30 71 [TCU 2012 first B12 season] 2014 50 99 2015 TBD TBD
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02Let me make this easy for you. TCU has WHIPPED our [deleted] in recruiting EACH and EVERY year in recruiting since 1989 with the possible exception of 1 year (I think they had the better class that year too). So 25 of 26 years at least they have WHUPPED us-SMU was not close to TCU in ANY other year. Total points is too simplistic because in many of those years that SMU appears competitive they really were not. TCU was recruiting quality while SMU was recruiting quantity. TCU routinely took smaller classes while SMU routinely took larger classes.
BTW that 2004 class was a typo which I've pointed out numerous times over the years. If you check it out they double counted most schools in the list in 2004. There has never been that many teams in division 1A. Just checked again-and its still screwed up "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02
not only have they been recruiting better, they've developed better. They were not stingy giving guys who were projects redshirts and really got their training down. I'd say Boise St. And TCU were the best at this in recent years. They seem to get a lot more out of their players. What is it they call it, frog factory?
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02No doubt the admin has contributed to a degree for years, but jj's [deleted] poor work ethic on the recruiting trail the last few (if not every) year was abysmal! This group of coaches are evidence of what can be done at smu with regards to recruiting, and the reaction from high school coaches, players and those around these activities on a daily basis are proof of how little effort was being put forth. The admin is not to blame for area high school coaches constantly remarking how little they saw of the smu staff. That is 100% on jj.
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02
Dude was so lazy, he thought it unconscionable to walk across the street to use an IPF. And as for the movie, JJ will be watching the clips on TV while calling color commentary with his cohost, a hand puppet.
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02June's a loser but 100yd ipf doesn't fit across mockingbird.
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02
Actually it could have. Could. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=44011 Instead we have a wonderful tennis facility, which I think is great, but it does not appease the IPF crowd.
Re: Ranked #94 Class on 12-02Parking lot, residence hall, and childcare facility behind the chapel might just have to go. Gives them an excuse to build a bigger, newer dorm over there for the athletes and...for those with the tradition thing, a path for the players to walk across the boulevard and past the freshman quad on their way to the stadium on game day. Those sound like good apples to me.
