From Orange County to Marshall? That had to be culture shock.

You have no idea.

Grew up here during Middle School thru High School...then SMU, then Dallas (UP & Preston Hollow), then Laguna...and now, 7 years later, back to Marshall.

Was supposed to be a stopping point, but my wife has become accustomed to a) Nana and Poppi taking the kids & b) what can be loosely described as 'Country Living'.

Having East Texas roots myself, I'd choose Marshall too. But they're kinda short on In-n-Out burger joints out there. Can't get a surf report either.

Ah...In & Out Burgers, Fries, & Milkshakes!!!
And Ruby's Fish & Chips....
And Los Brisas margaritas....
And Laguna Beach/San Clemente surf...
And Saddleback Church (home of Pastor Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life)....
And good, FRESH, sushi made by a dude who speaks JAPANESE.

My step-sister-in-law (gotta love those blended families) and husband help run Hollister Ranch up north of Santa Barbara. That place has great surf. 8)

Alright...I gotta stop...is beginning to make me miss it again....

Where is East Texas do you hail from, ponyboy, and when did you hang out in South Orange County??

:)

Hey, OC, I know what you feel. I get to missing so cal too, but then again, sometimes not. we miss border grill in santa monica, and laguna beach brewing. also trips through the santa barbara wine country. the wife at least has wilmington here for surf.

My mother is from Pickton, Texas -- tiny hamlet outside of Sulphur Springs. I spent several weeks every summer out there with the grandparents.

As for Orange County, my college roommate hailed from Laguna and I had a very serious girlfriend from Huntington Beach. Oh, and a friend who was the daughter of either Jan or Dean, can't remember which! She lived in OC somewhere, place is escaping me.

I would jump at the opportunity to move back to So Cal. Manhattan Beach is my paradise - peaceful, beautiful, laid back and only minutes from the bustle of LA.....El Tarasco on Rosecrans, Sharkees and the Local Yoke, miss ‘em all. LA gets railed on by many people but I absolutely love it.....beaches, hills, diversity, weather, beautiful people and the entertainment biz.

Hey LA...if you are the same fellow I had brunch with at the sports bar in Long Beach in, I guess it was 1998. Been awhile...you are from northeast of Dallas, I believe. Big hoops fan, right?

Yep, SoCal is paradise, and the pricetag buttresses that point.

The only thing to pry me from paradise is home...and my little boys need a dose of Texan reality more right now than the bright lights and big city. Otherwise, I'm parking it at Walt's in Seal Beach, sipping on a beer and having chowder....

hmmm.. me thinks we've gotten away from the intended subject of this post. Maybe talk about "The OC" and "Green Acres" somewhere else?

OC- one in the same here. I believe it was 99 and we were watching the very rare SMU football game on ESPN. It's good to hear from you. I hope things are well.

World- nope, right here is just fine. And I hope we haven't interrupted your important contribution to this discussion....wait, you've added nothing to this thread other than being an [deleted].
