The ugly uniform on that QB makes me think he's ready to clobber some guys at Tulsa, too.

The Rivals version:

Navarro (Texas) C.C. linebacker Damon Hurst had offers from Baylor, New Mexico and Louisiana Tech, but it was an offer from SMU that he couldn't turn down. Hurst, a 5-foot-11, 220-pound inside linebacker committed to SMU on an official visit to Dallas here on Thursday and Friday. "It's a good fit," Hurst said. "They had everything I was looking for. They had a great location, a great opportunity to play and the coaches are great. It was just the perfect combination."

Hurst was recruited by Pony assistant Jim Gush.

Hurst had a good sophomore season and will have two years to play two seasons. He was a first-team all-conference selection after recording 93 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

Hurst is originally from Waco, Texas.

I like the fact that we beat out the Big 12 (BU) and Mountain West (UNM).

Welcome to SMU, Damon!

Beating out Baylor is pretty good -- it's in the Big 12 and it's in his hometown. Congratulations, coaches!

Good point -- as a rule, I don't consider beating Baylor as much of a victory, but to snatch a guy away from BU when he's a Waco kid .... that's much more encouraging.
