Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Waters is a surprise to me, too. Anyone who can verify or squelch this?
I don't know much about him. He's not as tall as a lot of folks would like, but he certainly had some good numbers and he looks extraordinarily strong. Maybe yet another addition to the linebackers crew? Let him redshirt (and hopefully grow a little) and make him an inside linebacker? "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"

Hey pony grad thanks for pointing out my type-o, trying to type and talk on the phone is not one of my strong points. Not that I have any strong point to start with.
This Amadeus Waters fellow (man, that's a COOL name for a running back OR a linebacker) has his own website, though for whatever reason I can't get it to come up quickly.
I betcha he is a grayshirt, per Stallion's comments about his recently qualifying or going to qualify. But there is also an article on him (Googled him) that mentions New Mexico and SMU. He has played a variety of positions from his junior to senior year, including LB. He has 4.5-4.6 speed, and the article suggested he improved his verticle nearly 9 inches from 25 to 34. Don't know if he is any good or not...just passing along what I find. I am still befuddled by the whole "how many do we have" and "how many can we take" and "who gets a greyshirt" thing. Stallion made the point that as long as we come in under the 85 scholarship limit, we should be good. I would think that some folks are looking at taking off because we are at or over the limit. Might be some controversy if somebody doesn't perform during Spring practice.... Thoughts anyone?
he is a RB not a LB in college I would think. Ran for over 1,800 yards after transferring to a new school in his senior year. He claims he did some special track training that lowered his 40 time about .2 of a second to the low 4.5s. I've seen this internet site make a lot of mistakes before. I wouldn't count him as a commitment just yet.
Yeah, I wonder if somebody fat-fingered it too.
But I did the math, and it is still plausible that he is a greyshirt with Strodtman and perhaps Jones as well. 3 JUCOs, right? Slater, Holmes, & Hurst 4th JUCO spot filled by Xfer, Bryan Fleps 13 high school ships + 1 more b/c Guidry taking off (I dunno, but all this makes no sense...the numbers do not add up otherwise...unless greyshirts abound). If you remove JUCOs & Fleps for some obscure recruiting reason, it leaves room for the two DTs being attributed to us 3 greyshirts (see above) That's twenty. Of course, it could be that all this information is simply wrong, and it ain't over until the fat lady sings next Wednesday. This is all a thorough waste of time, but I have the recruiting equivalent of Turret's (sp?) syndrome. I just can't help myself.
I found an article as of 7 days ago which mentioned various schools that have now become interested in Amadeus recently-no mention of SMU as of 1 week ago. Also, in his own words he states what every one was speculating-he was a huge academic questionmark. At the end of the school year as a Junior he only had a 2.2 GPA and I'm not sure that was even core. He claims to have raised GPA to 2.8(again not sure if core) and says his SAT was not the problem.
they enroll in January 2007 and count on the 2007 recruiting 25 man yearly limit. If they are the type of player who is recovering from injury, needs physical maturity or strength its fine with me. Basically it allows them 2006 (greyshirt) and 2007(redshirt) and then have 4 years to play in 2008-2011. I'm not a big fan of just taking the next guy off the bottom of your list as a greyshirt though.
