Could be a safety but I think they honestly recruited him as a QB.

Stallion, BJ, naysayers et al:

Is there anything positive you can say about this class?

It seems that you guys question even the slightest promising stat or potential a player might have to help this team.

Granted we would all like to have 20 5-star, can't miss rivals/scout recruits, but I don't think Bennett is placing is livelihood on the shoulders of a bunch of stiffs that have no chance to help this program.

So is there any recruit in this class that you think might be a difference maker in the next 2-5 years?

I can say some positive things:

The linebacker from SLC, Pelps (sp?) should be a good player. Burley is a great pick up. He should make an impact next year. I also like the signing of Rhodes and the player from OK, McCann (sp?). If he is the same before his leg injury, he will make a big impact. The Oklahoma kids do not get as much coverage down here but they are big time players. My biggest complaint is the fact we do not have more quality juco players and a Division 1-A tranfer or two. There are so many players from this area every year that play Division 1-A football. It seems there be a few that get home sick, do not like the school they picked, or miss the girlfriend and high school drinking buddies and would fit in better at SMU. We need to get those players and start taking credit hours.

the first reported track time I've found of Rhodes this spring is in recent weeks when he ran a 10.97 100 Meters. He didn't place in some other New Braunfels meets I've seen. For comparison the top 10 sprinters in Texas run from 10.18-10.54 100 Meters.

Football fast and Track fast are two different things usually. As comparison, take Tarrell Walden of miami who hand timed this past year at 4.34. Walden ran a 10.97 at the state finals his senior year in track.

As a serious question, was any of the texas state finalists in 2005 a big time football recruit?

Follow-up on Zach Rhodes. He qualified for the Region 4-4A Track Meet in the 100 Meters but finished 14th with a time of 11.78

Don't know about you, but I would rather read a Stallion critique than have smoke blown up my arse.

Rivals ranks our class #107, directly below Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan and directly above Hawaii and Louisiana-Monroe. On an average star system we are ranked closer to #80.

This class * 4 will not win championships.

As for something positive, Phillip Burley gives us that big body we speed we have been lacking in the past.

I think you forgot to mention that the ave. star system also places us #1 in C-USA West.
