What about SMU records? Is there a site for that?

McCann...

Postby BringBackThePonies03 » Tue Apr 18, 2006 3:12 pm

Bottomline is this guy can flat out play. He will be a huge addition to the Mustang team, I think he will be either our starting kick returner/punt returner. And I would say there is a good possibility he could start in the defensive backfield, bottomline is he is talented, he is confident, and he is a leader. He is the type of player that SMU needs and he will help turn around this program, especially with big time players like Burley around him. Look for the SMU Mustang football team to be back!

Kick-off returns.. McCann and Henderson..

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN..

PS.. Someone be sure to teach the specials teams HOW TO NOT BLOCK IN THE BACK THIS YEAR!!!!
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Personally I have no idea if he can play. How about we wait until McCann (and Burley for that matter) even make it to the Hilltop before we are nominating them for the Heisman.

No one said they are being nominated for the Heisman. But they do have talent and skills, some of the best newcomer talent coming in, in a while so lets support the SMU staff for a job well done in bringing in some strong players and let's see what they do on the field.

I think it was a major coup for the staff to convince these guys to come here, more McCann than Burley because we had some help there. I am just saying lets let the guys play or at least practice, everyone was all charged up about Sterling Harris and he never developed into anything.

Bryan won the state finals in the 100 meters in Oklahoma with a time of 10.7 (timed electronically) With a hand held stop watch he ran a 10.4. So Stallion would a 10.4 put him in the top 10 in Texas. I've watched the kid run all year and he's been running 10.3 - 10.6 (handheld stop watch). He also won silver in the 200 meters with a electronic time of 21.8. The kid has some wheels on him. Here is a link to the Oklahoman

according to TxRunning.com the top 10 times in the 100 Meters in Texas this year range from 10.41-10.51. Most of these were at big meets like the Texas Relays, UIL Championships which I assume are electronically timed. A 10.7 would have placed him 7th in an 8 man field of the actual Texas 5A 100 Meters Championship run this year. Of course, that doesn't tell the whole story because there are Five Classes 1A-5A but it gives you an idea. There were 3 4A times better than 10.70, 4 3a times, 2 2A times and 2 1A times. So McCann would have had about the 19th best time run the 100Meters at the UIL State Championships.

I'm sorry Stallion but I went and checked that website and something doesn't sound right about those times. They had 20 people under 10.7 so I started clicking on their names and found out their previous times before the UIL texas championships all of them had been running 10.6 - 11.0 but all of them had a personal bests on this day of the state championship. That doesn't sound right where everyone has a personal best time in track. So somethings not right with those times, I assure you of that. Some of the runners dropped their times by 1 full second in the 200 meters. That's unheard of. So I don't give any stock in what the Texas runners' times were at that state meet. Just face it McCann is running at top speeds with Texas runners!

those times are confirmed by other sources like Dye Stat and the UIL official site.

Track times are doctored sometimes. We saw it here in Oklahoma. The kid from Tulsa Jenks was running a 10.2 - 10.4 at every meet he attended, He held the fastest time in Oklahoma all year long. But the two times he faced McCann he lost. Go Figure.

I went to HS with a guy named Henry Neal who once ran a 9.8 wind-aided time and at the state meet he ran 10.15 which I think is still the second fastest Texas HS time ever. Dude could fly.
