Think he committed to Rice this weekend.

HUGE pickup for them if true.

Can't find anything on scout either to verify that Nathan committed anywhere...

I'm by no means an insider, but I've heard it from a few people that would know.

His profile on rivals now reflects the commitment, although there is no article yet. Probably because Rice isn't part of the rivals network. I'm sure there will be an article sometime this week.

That new staff at Rice seems to be doing a good job so far. I wonder how much of a selling factor UT legend Major Applewhite is in regards to recruiting QB's.

Todd Graham plucks yet another from right under Bennett's nose. This commitment now reflected on Rivals really concerns me. OK begin the rationalizations now.

Not rationalizing, but in this particular case Graham certainly had an inside track due to coaching at Allen. Sure Nathan and family felt extremely comfortable due to prior relationship.

I agree with the problem as a whole, but disagree in this single case.

People on this site made fun of his name and we all know that recruits make their decisions based on messages boards.

Set aside the obvious...that is, Todd Graham & Major Applewhite are certainly well-regarded as individuals as well as coaches...so much so, that by virtue of their name and/or relationship with players like Nathan [deleted], they can sway them to their cause (i.e. reviving Rice's program...something akin to breathing life into Northwestern's).

What is the difference between Graham & Bennett here (and I am talking as salesmen to their respective programs)? I have read allusions by you (Stallion) to Bennett's recruiting ability before. Most of the time, you back into your comments about this issue, usually couching recruiting problems as a function of a lack of commitment by the university and/or alumni being on institutional demerol. However, notwithstanding program pluses and minuses, what about this situation gives you concern about Bennett? How different could an offer from Rice vs. SMU be? There are pluses and minuses to both vis-a-vis the program, education, and campus life. Assuming Rice is not doling out cash, and neither are we, what about Bennett troubles you in contrast to Graham?

And contrary to what you are probably thinking, I am not setting up a straw man to disagree with you, nor am I wanting another discussion about material we have covered before. I do not know enough about Graham to be more or less impressed with him than Bennett. Perhaps I should. I supposed I am concerned about your concern because like you, I have not seen Rice pick up such a solid recruit over us as well as the Big 12 schools. What gives?

I just like it when a player who got offers from Rice, Baylor, and SMU chooses to play somewhere else Bennett blew it and Todd G. plucked him right from under his nose. But when we do sign a player who got Offers (per rivals) from Baylor, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, and Standford there is no real positive response from Stallion, besides a "he'll do". I really don't care because as much as people love to talk trash about Stallion he is not blinded by all the BS talk at SMU. He wants to see action not just hear words. Hopefully Steve O. will put us over the hump......finally.

I had heard that Casey was going to transfer to SMU but I guess that is out now.

No way [deleted] leaves the two Nutts in Arkansas. If he did, they'd be forced to insert Johnson.

Plus, with Spurrier's 'C0CKS on the schedule this year, that could be devasting.
