Campaigning real hard for an in-house candidate for A.D did not do Tubbs any good--that is what I have heard.

This is all a case in stating the obvious:
DISD is important to SMU, or rather, it ought to be. This is noted by most, including Doherty. Tubbs dismissal ruffled a good number of feathers that Doherty may have to unruffle. This is noted by most, including Doherty.

DISD assistant ADs don't have to like SMU hiring decisions. On occasion, I haven't either. If DISD coaches want to hold it over SMU's head, all I can think of to say is "oh well...what's new?" If Tubbs was the only reason to support SMU, then 1) a lot of good it did (not) and 2) SMU has more pervasive issues in getting DISD kids than a decidedly average former basketball coach. A DISD Assistant AD pointing that out is like saying Americans are pretty much unwanted in the Middle East.
"Moderation in all things, and especially in Absoluts [vodka]." The Benediction, Doc Breeden, circa 1992

anyone else notice at the Red & Blue game that, as usual, Roosevelt HS was manning the concession stand as a fundraiser? During fb season it was their band; at red & blue their drill team. Guess they didn't get the DISD memo?

I also was the VERY FIRST person on this board who said Tubbs should be fired by sundown if the hamburler episode was really a slush fund. What I do have a problem with the asinine comments made by totally uninformed posters who claim that there has been no serious long term damage to an essential recruiting ground. Not one of the people making these comments knows the first thing about recruiting in Dallas Texas and its importance to SMU.

 We should hire Jimmy Tubbs as an assistant coach who can recruit DISD for us :!: :!: :!:

I can tell that everyone concurs with me that this is the solution to the problem of recruiting DISD :D

u forget shumate. I believe he was black and got 5 years to suck

On June 20, 1998, Southern Methodist University announced the naming of Shumate as the school’s head coach. In 1992-93, he led his team to a 20-8 record, winning the conference championship en route to earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, Shumate went on to earn SWC Coach of the Year honors that season.

After a successful run at SMU, Shumate returned to the NBA ranks, this time as an assistant with the Toronto Raptors.

Cooper--that is what someone told me. Take it for what it is worth. Several things came together to get him fired.

Hope not. Most people in the north have not heard of SMU, let alone its assistant A.D.'s.

On the contrary, they got the memo loud and clear......"Take all you can get and give nothing in return - and scream loudly about any perceived injustice any chance you get"................

Hey, basher, what SMU and Max Williams did to Tubbs is more than just perception.

What happened to you man? You used to be relevant.

Answer this--you know why I'm pissed with the way the Tubbs thing has been handled, why don't you explain to everyone why you are okay with it?

You are the greatest straight man in history!!!!!! Are you looking in the mirror when you asked that first quesion and answered it?????

Seriously, jt, chill out and be patient. This thing is going to play out in time and everyone will have the info to make their own decision about what has transpired. First hint: nobody is clean in this thing. I am pissed, too. You know why? Our university did not need any of this and it takes the hit on its reputation for the actions of a couple of morons - and I think you know who I am talking about. Second hint: stroll over to Texas Roundball and read the Darrell Arthur thread. In amongst the crap are a couple of nuggets that should send a shiver or two...........
