Fills in for the head minister a good bit.

Bodes better if Todd & family are Methodist as well.

Really his grandfather is a methodist that is awesome, b/c Phil and Jerry basically have marshall wrapped around their finger..

They are well-regarded here, yes. My wife teaches 2nd grade with a close cousin to Coach Dodge, and they go up to Southlake to attend a good number of home games. She asked me once about SMU, and I took no time at all in expressing my strong opinion that the entire Dodge family would be most welcome at SMU and would look good with seats about the 50 yard line 3 rows up. She laughed and said that Todd wasn't leaving Southlake until Riley was done, but afterwards, especially if Riley picked SMU, who knows?

The Dodge family lives in Grapevine. Dodge was the offensive coordinator at North Texas when Dennis Parker was there.

With experience or no experience, I would love to see him in just about any role at the Hilltop.

Dodge's next job will either be:

A) OC at BCS school
B) Head Coach at non-BCS School

Gus Malzahn's success as OC at Arkansas (straight from HS) has opened some doors for a very short list of HS coaches. Dodge is at the top of that list.

Another Marshall connection...Dennis Parker, the UNT Coach w/ Dodge as OC coached Marshall to 5A Big School State Championship in 1990.

Funny how small a world it is.

If all the Dodges come to SMU do we have to change our mascot to the Omnis?

Well, the ad does say, bigger in Texas, better in a Dodge...or something like that.

Not to contribute to this nonsense, but one of the reasons Dodge hasn't moved or looked seriously at the Rice job is that he didn't want his son to change schools (and yes, he wanted to coach him). Southlake rules allow a kid to stay in district for senior year if he was there throughout HS regardless of residency.

With the emergence of Willis this year, and the hope we have for any/all other young QBs to wear our uniform, I wondered if Riley Dodge had the athleticism to play any other positions. How's this? I thought he was a pocket QB who stood behind a great line and couldn't move, but apparently he ran the fastest 40 and shuttle times of any player at any of SMU's camps. I also heard he has been to the SMU camp six times, and loves the school, but some big-school offers also are expected to head his way. Interesting to watch.
