Owned? You want owned?
172 yards rushing by the SMU offense
3 interceptions by the SMU defense
SMU 35:02 - 24:58 in Time of Possession
TCU 3rd Down Conversions: 2 of 13
TCU point total: 10 (the lowest point total of the 2005 season)
Final Score: SMU 21 TCU 10

That is the definition of owned. Now go home and get your friggin shine box!!

I wish I could laugh but - uh - wow... you need to drink more of that purple koolaid - you know why? Yer fans wouldn't drive across town because, well, you knew that you were going to lose 21-10, right? Right?

Haha.

Wonderful. I drove across town to watch SMU get threashed the year before. And listened to TCU's taunting all the way through. I stayed until the very end. Fans are fans and maybe you need to think about being a real one.

I stood watching the entire game (that thrashing in Fort Worth) with a man I had never met - a former TCU player. Who kept saying "Coach B is better than this... our boys better watch out next year." Yes the former TCU player was recruited by PB when he coached there.

We left each other's company.. but somehow later in the night we ended up at the same joint. He sat down next to me - he said, "Hey man, don't look so blue you've got the best coach I ever suited up for." I said something like thanks, but... He said - I'm not joking - "I'll root for SMU next year because it hurt me watching my man like that. Sure, I'll want TCU to win 'gainst SMU- but Coach B's the man and I think they'll be my Horned Frogs nex year." Maybe he was "just being nice"... but even if that's all it was, for the first time in my life I liked something about TCU.

Then he left the table and two seconds later, some punk came up and said "get the f out of our town, loser". I responded - okay you wanna' pay my bill and tip for me? He walked away saying something that I didn't care to listen to.

Anyway, I loved that guy that I watched the game with... I hope - whoever he is - is doing well.

And the guy who cussed me out at the end of the night? Good on ya'!!! Really. That's what college football is all about, tell me to get the f out of your town... but you know what? At least come by and shake my hand. That's what I would think you would like. I could be wrong.

Go PONIES! Go college football! Go rivalries! Go higher education in all forms and the school spirit that it brings.

stallion ol'boy, do you maybe think the fact we have so many young tight ends had anything to do with his decision to go to tcu?
That thought doesn't fit his agenda.

Nope, too short to be QB's must less tight ends according to stallion

Believe what you want, if it helps you sleep. If Olson grows into an offensive tackle, which some seem to think he will, is he a great recruit for Froggy High? I don't know, and neither does anyone else who doesn't watch these kids play and evaluate talent for a living. Maybe he'll grow into a huge tackle and be a star .... but maybe he won't. TCU projects kids to grow, just like SMU does. EVERY school projects kids to grow. If this guy stays as an "athlete" (tight end or something), he could be very good. But if he keeps putting on pounds, this guy does not constitute a recruiting "whipping" of any kind. Signing Day isn't for another seven months, but it seems like TCU is well aware of what SMU is doing in recruiting. They offered Terrance Ganaway, they really liked our "too-short" QB Logan Turner, and I'm just going to assume that they -- like a ton of other schools -- would have liked to get a chance to get in on the race for Josh LeRibeus. It's August -- they have five commitments, we have four, and it sounds like we have some real players. Back off of Coach Bennett and his staff -- they're doing a better job every year, and they're doing better than you'll ever give them credit for.

Please describe all the people giving you this recruiting information Vitale. There is a helluva a lot of recruiting disinformation coming directly from The Coaches Offices at Ford Stadium.

So rivals now knows more than the coaches who evaluate these players, have long-standing relationships with HS coaches and ultimately put their jobs on the line by choosing to recruit one player over another? Come on, Stallion, you're too smart to believe that.

Can you give me a source on that Ganaway offer that I could verify? I've heard that a couple of times on here but not on any of the recruiting sites or any of the recruiting "gurus" on killerfrogs. Thanks, I would appreciate it.

And if Olson grows into a good OT, that's fine by me!

No I think there are some on this board that are being fed inaccurate information. Yes I'd take Rivals based upon offers from Coaches from UT, A&M, Baylor, Tech, OU, OSU, Kansas, UH, UTEP Missori and the other schools that recruit Texas over the BS coming from SMU about SMU's recruiting classes. Phil Bennett has a shot at about 5 of the Top 160 players in Texas. You are an absolute fool if you think SMU recruits are anything other than second rung prospects in the vast majority of cases. BTW in the last Rivals report after Ganaway committed he listed the schools recruiting him and didn't even mention TCU as a school that was recruiting him.

If I name who told me anything, that source dries up. However, I will say that it wasn't anyone in the SMU football office, or even at SMU. My information that I posted today came from the other side of the Metroplex. Your 5/160 theory might be the case (although I even doubt that, as some who aren't listing SMU would find that the schools they're hoping for won't offer .... although, of course, that will give you fodder for your "nobody wanted our recruits" rants....) IF Signing Day was tomorrow. Thankfully, it's not. Anyone who claims to have known at this time last year that we'd get Bryan McCann, for example, is shamelessly boasting, because we weren't being listed. Sure, it would be nice to see SMU sprinkled all over that list. But I'm much more interested in getting players in February, rather than making lists in July. And 'second-tier'? Come on, earlier today, there's a gushing report on here about LB Jermaine Love a rivals three-star recruit. Josh LeRibeus is a three-star recruit -- and now he's chopped liver?

Can you verify how you are seeing SMU's recruiting board? We have no clue who is and isn't on that board and rivals continues to update with new people rated at least 5.4 that have a medium interest in SMU.

We are all shooting in the dark here and especially this early in the game and before the kids' senior year. Rivals ratings prior to the end of the senior season just don't matter and would be hard pressed to find kids in this range that don't flucuate during the recruiting year a couple of tenths of a point.
