Not sure what Drew is doing down there in Waco, but it is working.
So what did rivals have to say on Diarra? I knew we were in top 4, but I haven't heard anything in a while.

Promised playing time, a christian school, Big XII, & Drew doesn't seem like the type to chew someone's [deleted] off (not saying they don't need it sometimes). Our recruits say that Drew is like a father figure to them, so I think he spends alot of time on these kids.
I would reorder your list to put membership in the Big XII at the top include as number two all the money asssociated with BCS membership, then promised playing time, not chewing someone's [deleted] (although a few players might like that), and drop the christian school bit to the very end. If that was really a huge consideration schools like Abilene Christian wouldn't be D-II or III.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?
Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

Seriously, will this be the year that Drew finishes with a .500 season record as a head coach? One can only hope, 'cause he ain't done it yet.

I'm sure he will finish above .500 overall as we have a pretty patsy schedule. We start the year with Angelo St. .500 in conference I don't know about. We have excellent guards but our 3's and 4's are unproven. Mamadou Diene led the Big XII in blocks last year, but his offense has yet to be seen.

there was no way in hell any coach at Baylor would have finished about .500 under the conditions he inherited. He's done a fabulous job even to be competitive in a couple of Big 12 games.

Rivals said don't drink the water and you might avoid it.

He wasn't a .500 coach at Valpo, either. That's kind of my point.

He's getting the talent, and I will say the Christian school aspect (the stricter rules at Baylor about cohabitation, dating, alcohol, etc.) play very well with parents especially mothers. And the parents do have some strong impact on where a kid goes to school. The other thing that was not mentioned was that Drew apparently has great contacts in the AAU and Club sport community. These guys seem to have more influence than high school coaches (as we learned). Lastly, I don't know what shoes Baylor wears, but whatever they are, clearly must be a factor since a number of the club coaches have ties to shoe manufacturers. For example, a Nike club coach will be more likely to encourage his players to go to a college using Nike than a college using Converse or a college which has no official shoe. By the way I went to a Nationals game last night and got to sit in a box seat, some of those Nike baseball cleats look like clown shoes.
