Another guy who has the chance to make the obvious decision and choose SMU over Baylor. Easy choice to make!

Two things to update.

1. He is expected to meet with the coaches later this week (10/30-11/3). He was invited to and attended the UAB game last night wearing his Carroll jacket. No offer yet.

2. He is taking an official visit to Wake Forest this weekend when they play Boston College. An offer could be forthcoming, but he says he loves SMU and probably make it his first choice.

Wake Forest could be tough competition. I have a friend whose daughter picked it over SMU and he is very complementary of the campus and her experience there. Hope we offer him and get the commitment!

Well Wake Forest picked the right weekend for him to go. I'm guessing he'll be at our game next weekend...let's hope it's a good showing by the Mustangs, or the contrast may be simply too blaring (as if it wasn't already).

No offer after visiting Wake Forest. Apparently, they are playing the same political game everybody else is.

This is what gets silly about recruiting. Everybody is afraid to be the first one to offer because they don't want to miss. But once somebody does, then more follow.

When it comes to recruiting, sometimes the college coaches guess is as good as yours.

???????

Are you saying a coach who really wants a kid will withhold an offer until the recruit gets one from someone else? What do you think they are afraid of missing?

How about maybe they are unsure about him and waiting on responses from other recruits. The fact that Russo has no other offers only makes it easier for the coaches because there is no pressure on them to decide right now. It isn't political, just reality and not rocket surgery. Kids getting the most attention get the most offers, wow!

if Wake didn't offer its because someone else on their board is rated higher. I would think Wake can probably do better than Russo at this point. Now is the time to remind Russo of that and try to get a commitment. If they don't then SMU probably has someone rated higher too. I would love to see all the lines drawn through names on SMU's board every year. Might need 3 or 4 boards and lots of chalk.

There seems to be a little more interest in Saldi than Russo. Russo did finish the regular season with 14 sacks. Wake Forest, I think, plans to offer 3 DEs and then go from there.

Here is the latest:
First, Kyle still has no offers.

He has 20 sacks through 13 games and had 3 against Permian.

Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe is apparently coming to his house tonight. Russo is second on WF's list behind a kid who committed to Alabama before Shula got fired.

Apparently, that player has some time period -- with or without Rodriguez taking the Alabama job -- to decide if he will keep or switch. If he switches to WF, then Russo's probably out. If he stays, then Wake Forest may offer Russo.

All the SMU coaches apparently keep doing is telling him they are watching film and yada yada yada yada. Sawyer was out to see him during the middle of this week.

I would also appear Baylor, Kansas, Kansas St. and Nebraska have expressed some interest -- it's unknown to what extent.

But Nebraska has plucked a Carroll player when PK Kris Brown kicked for them.

That is all.
