Skinny DeMyron Martin?
Peeked into practice - he looks STRONG and athletic. He played in the ACC - nice transfer, huh stallion?
Must have chosen SMU because of the Senegalese mention in the Knuckleheads' song!

mustangxc wrote:Awesome news! Although he only played the 2006-07 and fall portion of the current season he will only have 1.5 years of eligibility because he already burned his redshirt but must still sit out 1 full season. Thus his NCAA clock will expire before he has the opportunity to play a fourth season. http://smumustangs.cstv.com/sports/m-ba ... 08aab.html
Did not realize he had played the full 2006-07 season. So it would be 1.5 years left.

Given the Youth on the team overall, this seems like a perfect acquisition. He should help develope the Freshmen, give them time to get into the game, while sparing the Fans a soul destroying record at the end of the season.

This goes back to Eric Castro's theory that the team is struggling because there are not enough upperclassmen to push the freshmen in practice. If so we should start to see some of the benefits from this acquisition even before he suits up for a game.

I sure hope so. I would love to make a good stand in Memphis this year.

Great News!!!!!! I would like to see more transfers and juco players. It will enable us to slowly get the true freshman adjusted to the college game and not have to play them when they are not quite ready. This is a sign the 'model' is changing.

I share your enthusiasm, but Georgia Tech doesn't have "athletic-friendly" majors. It's a very tough academic school. So I'm not sure if this transfer is a true example of the proof of a changing model.
I'll be really thrilled when we are getting JUCOs from Blinn, Trinity Valley, Kilgore, etc.
But this is a start. A very good start.

This is huge. Nice talent upgrade. Its great to see a new attitude re: winning.
Our biggest weakness is we can't handle the ball so we can get into our offense & get the ball down low to our big men. Then they can create or dish back out for open jump shots.
Next time Robo heads west I recommend stopping in Midland & getting this young man on board.
Bringing transfers in like Faye & hopefully a pg like the young man listed below improves the team so much faster. The biggest difference is the competition level in practices. You have to play against better players everyday to improve. Having Bamba & Dia going against players like Daye everyday is great news. I just don't think Dia gets the type of comp he needs from guys like Spencer or Thom.
Great to see the team get deeper.
